I want to buy a working Namco Pole Position board set. If anyone has one that they would sell let me know or if anyone can or knows someone who can work on my non working board set.

I think I still have a working set in my storage ( dry and cozy ;-) ).

Shipping from Europe may not be cheap, but I can check if you want.

PM SENT.

I have a lead on a Pole Position totally working $195.00 in the SLC area......he will be parting it out if someone does not buy....soon....PM me if you are interested.

Thanks for the info but the Namco Pole Position Board Set is different from the Atari.

I'm still looking for a WORKING Namco Pole Position Board Set. It is different from the Atari.

I've had hundreds of pole position boardsets and have never seen a NAMCO version. I know they exist as the manual talks about them. I'm just saying, they must have only been used in overseas poles or something. Or I would think I would have stumbled on one in the last 25 years.

Good luck! Hope you find them!

The Namco boards were more popular in Canada
because I "believe" Atari did not have exclusive rights in Canada
like they did in the States, so some games came directly from Namco/Europe.

Of course most PP's in Canada were Atari versions from the States,
but there were Namco versions too.

I've personally had two full Namco sets .
I even had a Namco cab..
(see this crude write-up I did many years back
http://www.arcade.chezsuys.com/PP2Cabs.html )

Unfortunately, neither boardset worked, so I sold them to John Robertson at
http://www.flippers.com/ (in Vancouver Canada)

I know John fixed them, but I don't know if he stills has them
(...might be worth an E-mail to him ...).

Other than a few back-ground difference in gameplay between the Atari and Namco version,
the biggest difference is that the Namco board has the sound Amp right on the
main PCB, so the AR/IIs are not really needed. (see pics)

You can use a standard switching power supply and eliminate the AR/II's altogether.
(see pics of AR boards which are practically bare except for the +5V and +12V )

Also worth noting, the wiring harness is very different
as the boards have different finger-board connectors
(ie. you can NOT plug a Namco board in an "Atari" cab , ..and versa )

Cheers,
Steph
