I picked up a free Max RPM and its nearly complete. It has a few broken items that need to be replaced.

I need a pair of optical sensors. These are part of the steering wheel assemblies. Here's a picture of one. I really just need the sensor which is a TIL139 by Texas Instruments. There are a few on ebay, but they run nearly $40.00 each (a little too steep for me). If you know of a cheap source for those sensors or have used ones, or know of a compatible replacement, please let me know.

I also need one shifter that's working. The track mechanism on mine has worn down so it won't stay in gear.

I found that the sensors don't fail that often, but the dust accumulation on the strip is what causes problems. You'll notice there is a small strip that goes from light to dark, which is what the sensor sees and determines left or right from. Clean the sensors with rubbing alcohal, then clean the strips and hook it all back up. If it still isn't working then try replacing the sensors. I went as far as cleaning the boards too, just dumping them in some soapy water and letting it dry out for a few days.

Thanks for the tip! One of the sensors on my steering wheel got caught in the steering mechanism and yanked out of its solder joints. It certainly needs to be replaced.

The others all seem to work but I'm sure they need to be cleaned. I pulled the gas pedals out this morning and I've been soaking them. That reflective tape your talking about was covered in greasy grime. That certainly explained why the accelerations doesn't work.

Yeah, just don't use anything too strong to clean the tape, the black printing will lift off of it.
