Hello All. Longtime collector, first time poster. I am looking for a Journey in the Eastern PA/New Jersey area. If you have one, outside of that area, let me know also. May be willing to get it shipped.

I know they are hard to find, but I figured I'd give it a shot....

Thanks

They're out there. They just take a while to pop up and you have to be willing to spend a lot on it. Or, you could be like Parabolic and just build one!

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'll keep looking. Moneys not a problem, it's finding one! I've got a roll of cash burning a hole in my pocket ready to put in someones pocket that has one for sale!

Again, as stated, its finding someone that's willing to sell that's the issue. I looked for an upright for a few years after selling a cocktail that I stumbled on having never played the game. The game play and the music hooked me. I sold that because it took up the space of 3 uprights.
I looked for one semi local for a few years. I got tips on 2 of them for sale, but was 3 days late on 1 and an hour late on the other. Finally, I offered a Star Wars cockpit for trade and one was offered as partial trade toward my Star Wars. I was lucky.
I have seen them pop up for sale, mostly on the West Coast. There was one in Oregon or Washington that was nice. I'm not sure if that one's still for sale. It was reasonably priced.

been waiting 5 years for 1 but i never thought id get a tempest either (they sell fast or way to high!!)
but i finally got a nice shape 1 with the tubes switch installed for $450...FINALLY!

Congratulations! I hope I have a success story like that.

It is a great feeling finally getting that one game that you have been desperately searching for...

yeah man definitly a rare game.. i wouldnt let mine go for no less then 3000... Mines completley restored with new art through the whole game and new cassette recorder so thats what i think its worth to me...

I was lucky to buy mine several years ago from Exidy mine is also super nice. It's a game that doesn't show up often, expect to pay 2K & up for one unless you get lucky and find one for less. I too wouldn't sell mine for less then 3K but have no plans in selling it. good luck on your search

Thanks. I do hope to find one somewhere!

Journey

good luck on your journey to obtain same! last year i picked up some hard to get games. huo zookeeper, timber, madplanets, crossbow, tron le pinball, granny and the gators, dot, major havoc upright. it will take a while but that roll of cash will help you get the game, dont expect to find one in craigslist, i have never been that lucky! they seem to pop up on ebay every several months also. be patient it will turn up eventually.

oh you KNOW that!
Im not even sure if double would cut it!! ;)

For those of you going with the replica cabs, what did you do about inside? I have a boardset, but not the harness, and power supply, etc.

Were you lucky enough to have that already, or are you going the mame route?

Just curious.

Thanks.

Boardset is tough to come by, so you've got that going for you at least. Power supply...you can get a switching power supply from anywhere and use Arcadeshop's switching adapter for MCR games...that'll power the game. You'd also need a power brick/supply to run the monitor, light, and the switching power supply...that could be found pretty easily. You can get the cabinet made, and you can get the marquee and monitor bezel printed from rich/Rikitiki at thisoldgame.com...I think that's also where you get side art. The control panel overlay you can get at gamestencils.com. And someone around here was doing a run of the control panels. You'd have to get a coin door somewhere...again, can be found easily. The other difficult part would be to get the mounting hardware for the monitor...but that can be done. I suppose the toughest thing to find would be the cassette interface board. Finally, the last big obstacle is the wiring harness...which can be made, but takes ridiculous amounts of dedication. Ask Parabolic...he did it twice!

Actually the boardset can be made from a tron ssio and a tapper class cpu board. The issue is the main Video board. its close to a tron, however has addl circuits in it to handle the B&W digitized roms. I was working on making a daughtercard of sorts to use a tron board, however I found a original Journey set and went from there. Its best to use the switching adapter from arcade shop and a switcher.
The wiring harness takes time, but isnt impossible. the one thats in Jedi's machine is all new wiring used from a couple jamma harnesses. The one in my current cab is remade from a spy hunter harness, so its mostly color correct.
As of this writing I have the pcb layouts complete, and some boards sitting around for a prototype repro cassette interface. Thanks to Jedi for supplying me with the high rez pics, and a ton of time at the cad program.
Although I havent taken the time to etch any yet.
In my latest cab Im using an arduino with an mp3 shield to supply the music, along with a Spy hunter AMP board (as it has mixing built in), and a custom board for driving my "light show".
Again - as Jedi said - its not impossible! There is enough of it being reproduced now - just finding the boardset is the trick. Unless Clay ads it to the ArcadeSD board!
