Hello arcade bredren! I picked up one of my most desired games yesterday (Food Fight). It is in really nice shape overall, but the joystick is shot. I know these can be tough to find, but I would really like to get this one going or at least better than it is today. If you have a joystick, centering bellows, or any parts to help rebuild this one, I would greatly appreciate it! I have cash and a ton of parts/games that I am willing to work a trade on for a complete stick, parts, give or take, etc.

Thanks in advance!

I have talked about this before, but if you learn to play with a beat up stick, rebuilding it wont be worth it. My FF joystick is missing the centering bellow, but I got used to playing it like that. When I went up to CAX, I played the one there that had a freshly rebuilt stick...and hated it. It sucked. I guess its all preference, but I'd never rebuild mine. Weird, huh?

Thanks for the tip Jow. I did see your comment about this in another thread which was encouraging.

The game is playable now, but the right movement is fairly unreliable. I am wondering if that is the pot or what. I had never seen a stick like this till I opened it up last night. I was able to get the right direction moving, but want to make sure this will stand up to the heavy gaming I want to do on it.

Any parts for this stick would be much appreciated!

Don't listen to Jow... Nothing beats a perfectly rebuilt Food Fight stick. haa haa... Probably only saying that because I built it right away.

Here are all your parts!!! I'd suggest pulling it apart and figuring out which parts are worn.

If I didn't get a NOS centering bellow as a "gift" I would of grabbed one of these.

Heard they are a little too stiff so drilling holes will make it feel more like the original.

Here is the writeup I did when I rebuilt mine.

Feel free to bring it over and I'll rebuild it for you after you get your parts.

@Mylstar- thank you for the tip, that will be the first thing I look into until I get some parts to rebuild it.

Bill Jr. - You are a beautiful man (said in a very hetero way) and I greatly appreciate your links and info! I will work on getting the parts and will try rebuilding this bad boy. If I have some problems, I will definitely come your way- been wanting to for awhile anyway.

I would like it to be as close to the real deal as possible so I can really test the game play. Can't wait to get this one in the basement and start playing it.

btw- I still have a couple Btime Deco cabs if you are interested....

Had I learned to play with a new stick, I'd probably feel this way. I HATED the stiff stick though (make as many gay jokes as necessary there), and will never rebuild mine!

Food Fight Joystick

I bought the complete rebuild kit from Mylstar and although it can get expensive there is nothing like a new joystick. Food Fight is the one game that I wouldn't sell, so for me the cost was worth it. That's the real question you need to ask yourself. If you decide to rebuild the stick there are really 3 parts in my opinion that must be replaced:

1) Replace the plastic linkages with the metal reproductions
2) Replace the centering bellows
3) Replace the top cap, they are usually rounded out

Thanks
Greg

Where are you located?

Hello, I am located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Was kind of nervous to tell you with that scary avatar you have!

Thanks for all the tips on this folks! It looks like my linkages are in need of replacement and the bellow at a minimum.
