I have spent the last 6 weeks solid working on a Sega System 1 multi. It has all the System 1 games except for the swimming one. It includes both the vertical and horizontal games with full on screen dips and selection along with dual bank high score saving.
I am still having a few issues with sound cpu reliability due to the way Sega designed the board, no watchdog and sound chips that wait state the cpu but it is almost there.
It is designed to work with the later System 1 games that have the Z80 PIO chip rather than the 8255 PPI.

This is awesome! Was it ever finished? Can it be purchased?
