I figure this is a huge longshot, but this place surprises me sometimes:

Anybody in the San Francisco Bay Area got an empty Nintendo cabinet they're looking to unload?

Stripped right down to the bare wood is just fine. Preferable even. Needs bondo, paint, no problem, I'm happy to make a project out of it.

Over the last few weeks I've put together a nice, fully functioning Donkey Kong with good (and original) monitor, board, bezel, marquee, control panel, coin door, mechs, wiring, everything.

It just happens to be in a (particle board) cabinet that's pretty much shot. Bottom and perimeter are essentially destroyed. Bondo aint gonna cut it here. Most of the cab would need to be rebuilt from scratch, and I don't have what it takes to do that.

I'm really liking how my machine has come together, and as a result am feeling that it deserves better than this crumbling old thing it's sitting inside.

I'm looking to pay between $0 (that is, I'll haul away something that needs a lot of work but is salveagable) and $100 (for something that needs no or little work, and preferably an original DK). I'll go more for a real beauty.

I hate to have to trash this cab, because it's the original, but there's no hope for it!

Periodic bump.

Level with me guys: this aint gonna happen, is it?

I am beginning to get the feeling that stripped Nintendo cabs are a rare (and desirable) beast.

Last week I saw a local $300 (working) Popeye with a good lookin' cab and was extremely tempted to do the unthinkable...

Problem is, I feel like that's the only way I'm ever going to get a replacement cabinet.

Though I guess I'm not in a hurry.
