Texas DFW Dallas / Fort Worth area -

Will pay up to $900 for a working cabinet in good shape. I can and will pay more depending on what you have. Don't mind doing a restore on a lower priced cabinet either.

I got into this hobby wanting a Donkey Kong upright. Well... 4 years later 9 games (5 restores) and 3 projects in the works, I still don't have a damn DK. Picked up a $350 Popeye that is in great shape and cant bring myself to convert it...

Missed out on several great deals in the DFW area over the years. I no longer care about getting a great deal, I want a freaking DK.

Sometimes the best route to a DK is to find a Vs. Cab for cheap and convert that back to a DK

I am doing this now. The catch it, it's pricey to do! BUT, it will be nice.

it only cost some boards, harness parts paint , t molding marquee, bezel, CP, monitor work, artwork.. its not too much .
If you are in this hobby for penny restores,, you thought wrong lol.
One day these machines will cost a small fortune to own.

That's the point I was making, even with the nicest VS cab, you won't have any of the DK parts except cabinet, speaker and power. You pretty much have to gut it and start again.

im also gonna take a wild stab at the fact that canada doesnt have very many DK 's floating
around..

In my experiance nintendo cabs in the dfw area do not pop up often. The ones I have seen frequently (3-4 a year) have either been butchered into a multicade or already restored with an over 1K asking price.

With an existing nintendo cab It would take me around $600- $700 to get me to my goal of a DK. There are no nintendo cabs i can find in the dfw area with $400- $600 dollar asking prices. Even if there was, I can probably find a DK on ebay in good shape for 900-1000 and just pay for shipping.

The most economical route for me would be to convert my popeye, but again, it's in good shape and I would feel dirty every time I looked at it. I am not necessarily after the cheapest route, but I will convert that damn popeye before I spend 2K on a DK.

If anyone has any leads on DK's or candidates for a DK in the DFW area I am all ears. I think my price limit is reasonable but am willing to listen to reason from people on this forum that are more knowledgeable than I.

Great, now I can blame Canadians for my lack of a DK.

Curse you Canadians with your delicious ketchup flavored chips and polymer currency!!

I don't even care about the DK anymore. You just blew my freaking mind. PM on its way!

Definitely not near me. The Multicade Mafia score them all. Assholes.

yeah we are getting alot of that too bro...
i see centipedes, dk's and even asteroids machines being pounded into multicades
in my area.

they dont understand that these machines are historic.
