I have a friend looking to buy an original Defender cabinet, and I wanted to help locate one for them. Somewhere near the Burke, VA area would be ideal. If anyone is willing to sell please send me a PM with some pictures!

When you say a bunch of parts, does that mean you just need to assemble them all together inside one cabinet? We're both looking for a complete authentic machine with the CRT and all that.

I'm about to list one that is bulletproofed (by me) and has a bright, burn-free tube, but shipping would probably put it at $1200. You should be able to get them much cheaper locally.

Locally is what I'm trying to aim for, but thanks for the mention!

You might check with @CharlieG

Too tired to think right now. Blame the day job. But yes, I'll soon have a cheap Defender project for sale very local to OP. Definitely a project though. Needs to be deconverted from Super High Impact Football. Is the OP open to projects?

That sounds great, however I've never converted or deconverted an arcade cabinet before. The most I've done is some slight restoration on a Midway Space Invaders.

Defender is a great cab to learn on. Well built plywood cab, easy access, loads of parts and knowledge available for it. The OG is really durable, usually salvageable, especially if you don't mind a machine with original patina and aren't looking make something look brand new.

My cab had been converted to World Series baseball and it was really, really satisfying to being it back to its proper state. Plus, it's a great cab to set up with a JROK which can be done easily and non-destructively to the OG hardware. Defender is the easiest CP of the Williams games to make from scratch too. One plank. I heartily recommend making some swappable control panels for the JROK too. Those overs-stuffed multi panels are a nightmare to me.

That's incredible!! One day I'd love to try and learn how to do something like this, but unfortunately, I have no space in my own house for another full-scale cabinet to work on, and my friend wants to keep his out of their house to surprise someone else with the final machine. Which is why I'm also looking for one that's all set to go already, or I could help assist in getting it converted properly with the seller, then purchase and take it home from there.

It's sounds like you may need to revise the title of your post.
Do you want a complete, running, clean Defender upright or just a Defender wooden cabinet?

My bad. An original wooden upright is what I'm looking for. The condition doesn't need to be perfect, as long as the machine looks well enough and is operational.
