WTB: Dedicated Gauntlet Legends or Dark Legacy - North Texas Area

Hi all,

I am getting close to getting my game room completed (wife finally gave in to getting rid of the guest bedroom ha) and finally getting some issues resolved with my current games thanks to some fantastic fellow klovers however the only game that I am missing from my dream collection now is a dedicated Gauntlet Legends or Gauntlet Dark Legacy. Anyone know anyone with one of these for sale? I am in a North subarb of Dallas ( in North Texas) and would be willing to travel to any surrounding areas or states. Let me know and thanks in advance!

Jim

I have seen a GL for sale in your area or Houston area recently on Craigslist.

Also, welcome.

EDIT: Could have been a month or more ago since I saw the post. It was listed a couple of times as I recall. Another will pop up - you are in the right area. :)

Thanks for the welcome! I actually saw that one on the Houston CL a week or so after the post date and sent e-mail but never heard back so must have missed it =( Let me know if you happen to see anything else.

Thanks!!!

Jim

This guy looks like an Op, but he shows what he needs to show... It wouldn't hurt to call and see where he is on prices since he is in Garland.

If not, they keep showing up around here for fair prices. I just have not had the room or would have picked one up. They had three at the last auction I went too as well. Plus they usually need monitor work or something, so if you can do that the prices are so much better. :)

Gauntlet

I have one at work for sale. Works great, and looks great. $649 U pick up in Wichita Falls, TX You can see it in my Extreme Hunting pics below.

I actually checked with him a few weeks ago and he didn't have any. He is an Op over in Garland. I'll have to check back with him to make sure though. How much are they going for around here normally? Speaking of monitors, do you know anyone in Collin county or the dallas area that works on monitors? I have a couple that need to get fixed and haven't worked my way up to fixing the monitors yet.

Thanks for the help!!!

Jim

Looks nice! Any idea if they move on the prices or are they firm? Also since its a biz would you have to pay sales tax? I might have to make my way out there this weekend to take a look if its not raining like forecasted.

Thanks for the help!!!!

I have seen them come and go on CL for anywhere between $400 to $600 or so. Obviously not sure what the actual sell prices were for the CL games. They are almost always in pretty good physical shape and the most common problem seems to be them needing monitor work. Dark Legacy is a little harder to find though, mostly the Legends show up.

There are a couple of techs in the area that are on here. I'm not sure what they charge since I usually try to rebuild them myself. (TexasHotShot, Gamefixer) If I get stuck or have problems, I just start a thread in the repair forum. Everyone tries to help you out. What kind of monitor is it and what is it doing? Also, if it is out of your league, you can always pull the chassis out and ship it to someone to fix if you can't find someone to do it locally.

I have 2 monitors for repair.. One is a Vision Pro Kt-2938 Out of a PGA Tour cabinet that just displays a blue screen. I got it in this way and thinking the main board is incorrect or doesn't match the neck board. The main board is a wells gardner. The other one is a Sharp Image out of a San Francisco rush. That one just doesn't turn on. I hope to learn about them when I can but haven't found the right resources yet unfortunately and don't want to shock myself to death by touching the wrong thing( not sure if that is true or not haha). Are there companies you can send the circuit boards into or is it private individuals?

Thanks for the help!!

This one is kinda close price is right.

I bought my GL from the local NAMCO and they cheerfully sold it to me knowing the monitor needed lots of work and not saying anything.

Hint: When buying a game like this, try to keep it on for a solid 30 min so you can check that the screen focus doesn't change. Mine had a bad flyback and needed to be recapped and it ended up hosed beyond repair after a professional chassis rebuild. When I commented on the focus shifting they said don't worry about it, it's nothing. F#@%^ liars.

Their games were so trashed it actually took them an hour to assemble one game that they said worked great from the components of 3 GL games. Joysticks from one game, cpu boards from another, power supply from a 3rd, etc.

If I ever deal with them again I'll be incredibly sceptical of whatever they say to the point where they'll likely throw me out on my ass.

That $149 game could very well cost you a hell of a lot more than that. Mine did.

Edit: I should add that the guy was very smooth while I was looking at the game. "If you have any issues just give me a call back!" When I called him back about the monitor shortly afterwards "So sorry, we just shipped those units back to the headquarters or I'd see what I could do". Yeah, right.

Chad (ArcadecupCom) fixes all kinds of monitors. He is on the forums here. Anyway, check out his site for some more information.

Just 'cause he's asking $600 doesn't mean he's gonna get it.

I paid almost nothing for mine but ended up spending so much damn money to get it working correctly that the $600 offer seems like a bargain to me.

On a positive note I now know much more about these games and have learned a lot in general so it hasn't been a total loss.
