WTB: Cruisin World, Cruisin USA and Off Road Challenge main boards

I don't believe I have to switch out the driver board, all I need to do is switch out the main board in my Cruisin USA cabinet. If what I read is correct, I can swap between Cruisin USA, World and Off Road Challenge boards.

I have a working Cruisin World board in a cabinet but not sure which version it's running though. How can I tell? The other cabinet doesn't have a working board.

Let me know what you have and for how much.

I live in Germantown, TN 38139

Thanks

Ryan

Not completely correct. The game itself will work just by switching the main board, but the force feedback will not. The conversion kit came with a PAL (which I've never been able to find) that needs to be switched on steering board to enable the force feedback.

Well that's too bad about the lack of force feedback but it's better than no games at all

Agreed. I played mine for a while without feedback and it was just fine. Cruis'n Exotica boards will switch out as well. Good luck.

this is incorrect. The hardware is different and the game in not just plug and play with the Cruin world, USA, or off road setup

Hit the test switch on your cab and you can see in the menu the revision you have.

I can confirm that you can swap USA and World without feedback as well cause I do it in my cab. I also second the Exotica isn't plug & play. There was a thread where a guy was trying to rig up a conversion harness a year or so ago but I think it died.

These babies just arrived a few days ago and I'm brand new to working on them. I've owned pins for several years though.

Where in the cab would I find the test switch?

And how important is it that the linked Cruisins have the same version boards? Will
it not work otherwise?

Here are a few photos of the two cabinets

Test switch is inside the coin door.

Yes, both boards have to run the same version or they will not link.

Ok thanks you guys for the help.

Once I know what version my good game is running, I'll be better equipped once I know that. If I obtain another Cruisin World board and it's running a different version (and my luck, it will be) what is required to make the new board similar to the old one so linked play is possible?

Ok I checked and it looks like version 2.4

How many other versions are there? Is this a preferred or common version?

2.5 is the last revision, so 2.4 is probably fine.

If you get a board with a different version number you can have someone burn the updated rom chips and swap them to change it to the version you need. There are several guys on KLOV that will burn ROMs (you can do a quick search) for very cheap.

Yea everything I've read states Exotica isn't compatible.

Well, they are not EXACTLY plug and play, there are a couple minor adjustments to the harness...but I still have the manual for the USA to Exotica kit. I'll try to take a look tonight (I don't recall the extent of the conversion). ElectricDreamz has my linked pair and may be able to take some pics of the wiring if that helps. But if I recall (it's been a while), it's not a hard conversion.

Very cool. Id be curious to know how hard it would be and what it would require.

Ok these two cabinets are a wreck. They are dirty, rusty, scuffed and gouged. It's been a rough twenty years for these games. One of the seats seems to have a broken slide catch/release. I'd like to take the seats off and clean these things and try to repair it. How the heck do the seats come off?

Also, the sides of the cabinet are in bad need of new decals. Of course, I can't find a single source for them. Does any owner here know where I could get two pairs of decals?

Ok got a question here.

I've got a Cruisin World board with a CR2032 battery and a Cruisin USA board with a BR2325 battery.

I'd like to replace the batteries in the boards I have and I'm wondering if I can swap the BR2325 with a CR2032.

Can anyone advise me if this will damage the board in any way?

Thanks

Ryan
