Berzerk Joystick

Dang, I was going to post the same thing and I find this post. If there is a second one available let me know. This red ball joystick I have sits about a half inch off the panel and make gameplay lame.

Don't mean to go off-topic, but does anyone know where I can get a Yie-Ar Kung Fu marquee like the one on that Berzerk cab? That's the first I've seen like that, and it doesn't look like a cpo.

I have 4 of them nos in my garage...........................................ok just kidding hahhaha. I have not seen any for sale in my 6 years of hobby. I think Stern had all kinds of problems with them and replaced them. I personaly didnt like the red ball joystick and replaced with a black one but thats just me.

Anyone got a better picture of one?

--------- Never mind, I see it in the service manual. Not the stick I have. Sorry.

Are we talking about reproduction Berzerk joysticks?

I've been keeping quiet because I don't want to get anyone worked up over it, but I am working on a reproduction version of this controller.

I have almost everything I need for it. I've been stuck on the wood type, though. I've tested a few different types of wood and I find myself leaning toward using ASH for the actual stick itself. I'd be happy to consider any input on this project!!

Comments?

Dave

P.S. My projected selling price point on this one is approximately $75. :)

Berzerk Joystick

Ash is good but has porous grain. That will show through the paint. How about hickory? It is the industry standard for tool handles. It should take the beating and is nice and dense, which should make for a smooth finish.

All right, I'll take a look at Hickory. I have a lot of hard woods in the shop, so I might have a piece laying around to put on the lathe.

Thanks for the tip.
