Would like to test a couple of Electrohome G05 801 monitors and would need a harness for this.

Have a B/W powerbrick (marked A006555 on the underside of the brick (diode PCB)). and an Audio Regulator PCB (marked A034485) which I hope is the right parts if anybody know/can confirm?

Thanks!

What game board do you want to use to test? You'll need a main harness for that game board.

The monitor needs power (from the brick) and X/Y/Z signals from a game board. The game board will need whatever the proper type of AR is for that game board. The AR doesn't interact with the monitor directly.

Asteroids is the game board I want to use for testing (known working board).

In that case you just need an Asteroids harness. Upright, cabaret, or even cocktail would technically work.

If the AR you have has a 1x4 pin speaker connector (instead of a 2x2), then it's an Asteroids AR (i.e., AR-I-01), and should work fine. Though you will want to test it before you connect it to a game board.

One tip for when you do find a harness: Asteroids AR's measure artificially high on the +5V test point when the game board is not plugged in. You should get 6.2V on the 5V test point, with the game board unplugged. This is normal, and it will come down to 5V when the game board is plugged in. This is different from how other Atari games behave, but is normal for Asteroids.

Great information @andrewb - thanks a lot!

The connector (J8) on my AR is a 4 pin connector so that's fine I guess.

If I was to make my own harness what type of connectors/pins are involved (to make the essential at least (power and X-Y signals))? I understand that I need an edge connector for the Asteroids PCB. It's not necessary to test the sounds or controls of the game, just a harness for testing the picture on the monitor.

You will need the mate for the main 15-pin Molex connector on the power brick, and the connectors that mate to the 2x3 (power) connector on the 801 power supply board, as well as the signal 1x7 connector on the deflection board. (I think it's 7? Not sure though, offhand.) Plus you'd need an edge connector for the game board, and the mate connectors to at least the two non-speaker connectors on the AR.

I don't have all of the part numbers handy. But I know they are posted in threads here. And arcadepartsandrepair.com (or Digikey) has all of the connectors and pins.

If your on FB Kris Donohoo has a harness and power brick for sale $125.00 shipped he is trust worthy as I bought my circus charlie cocktail from him

I think there are many people here who would question whether Kris Donohoo is trustworthy.

Anyone here can search his name and form their own opinion.

Well yes anyone can do research not a hard thing to do, I have delt with him on a game and some boards and haven't had any issues, so in my opinion I will vouch for him, thanks for your daily inputs

Kris Donohoo is a good guy and well known around here in the Portland/Vancouver area. I've bought 2 Asteroids cabs from him.

Here is some pictures of the harness.
A bit hard to see all the connectors and if the right one is there for the G05 801. Worst case I need to make an adapter I guess (need to source the correct connector).

From searching I found this to be likely (part number may be an internal distributor number):
150179-2060 - Housing, Receptacle, Pitch - 3.68 mm, Poles - 6, Rows - 2, Polyamide
301-22-810
150179-2060
Manufacturer:Molex

No not familiar but was wondering why He is not a member of klov being so well known around this area. I'm thinking I will do some research as to why.

Here are the pictures you requested

Advance search a G05-802 to G05-801. A lot of good threads with info. I've made both adapters to go either way and I have printed sheets with the pin outs. Just moved weeks ago and they are still packed somewhere. Get schematics for asteroids and monitor. I use a 30-0-30 brick on my test bench with a Asteroids wiring harness for an 802. I made an adapter to plug into an 801 for testing when needed. Careful with the pinouts on pins 4 and 8 of the 12 pin molex connector when connecting an 801 though. If you read some of the threads you will see why. AndrewB posts a lot of good info.

Yes, as you've noted it's possible to use an 801 monitor with an 802 brick (and vice versa, 802 monitor with 801 brick) via adapters.

Here's the thread/post you were referring to, regarding the error in the 801 monitor to 802 brick adapter diagram that circulated for years, and how to fix it by swapping two of the grounds, so the picture isn't wobbly:

(Picture of corrected adapter, from the post above.)

And here's the diagram for the 802 monitor to 801 brick adapter. I didn't create either of these, just passing the info along. But I too have built and used both.

There is one on ebay for $50 I thought it was expensive. Looking at the diagram above it would be easy to make a adapter harness.
