Looking for a 19" amplifone picture tube for my test bench. The focus pin on mine broke off, I don't care if it has a ton of screen burn or holes on the phosphur coating. local would be nice, but I can send a picture tube shipping box and make all shipping arrangements.

Hi Mark,
Give jplj44 a PM. Last time I was at Jeff's warehouse, he still had a couple left (tubes with yoke).

Is a TV tube an option Mark? Easier to get than a med res vector tube I would think

It doesn't even need to be a med res tube for a test bench. These tube numbers will work

M48AAW00X
19VJTP22
19VLTP22
19VNJP22
19VMFP22

I just went to the shed and opened up a random 19" TV case

It happened to be a philips TV.

The tube inside is : A48JSK61X

The sencore test book lists all of the above numbers AND my tube, as identical, using adapter # 3

So it basically means a 19" tube will work as long as it uses a sencore adapter #3

You know......If you have a Amplifone yoke, you can use a WG4900 tube.

This statement leads me to believe that if you have a complete Amplifone setup with a terribly burned tube, you can just pull a tube from a 19" TV with a CR23 neck pinout?

I guess I always assumed that you couldn't swap just ANY tube into an AMP setup. I always thought there were some mysterious 'amplifone only' tubes out there.

??

The main difference is the resolution. Amplifone is medium res, and a tv is Standard res

Some Amplifone's shipped from the factory with medium resolution tubes (basically, a tighter dot pitch)......some Amplifone's shipped with standard resolution tubes. The standard resolution tubes are the exact tube number to the WG4900 tubes.

I can help you with this, Mark. I travel to Beloit, Rockford, and Belvidere regularly on business. May be going to Janesville as early as Tuesday morning.

So how does one find one of the elusive 'medium resolution' tubes?

Got it mike, already installed and converged - looks great, the red is a bit weak, but i'll clean it that up later.

FYI here is list of tubes that will work (so far)
19NJP22 STD
19VLTP22 STD
19VJTP22 STD
19VMFP22 STD

M48AAW00X MED
M48AAW02X MED

I'm sure there are more...

Star Wars and dedicated Major Havoc games shipped with medium resolution tubes. Quantum shipped with standard resolution.
The handful of Space Duel and Gravitar games that shipped with an Amplifone... I don't know.
