Looking for Marquee, Bezel, CPO & Side-art artwork, and Bezel Instruction Card

A. Williams 1942 Bezel Instruction Card
as pictured here: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/hoMxurDQ7igxd1X4NX6lIw?feat=directlink

B. Williams 1942 Marquee, Bezel, CPO, Sideart artwork as pictured in the following link:
http://www.retrokade.com/temp/1942-williams.jpg

Does anyone here have a cab with these items on them, or seperate NOS/Repro artwork or parts (CP, Bezel) with this artwork on it that could be scanned ? ( or for sale ?... ;) )

See below for WIP info on re-creating what they look like...

I haven't look for these particular files, but you may want to check http://mameworld.info. On the right scroll down to "Art Files". I could be in there, but as I said, I haven't checked for your title.

Cheers!

Thanks - checked it out, but no luck on marquee, sideart, bezel or cpo files to match the williams versions/promo materials.

Still lookin!

I looked at that pic and i got too say maybe there never was a Williams 1942?

Maybe they sold it too Capcom? Trying too think in the early 80's did'nt Williams stop Making Arcade games? This game came out in the Mid 80's.

Theres nothing about it in the KLOV Data Base.

there's enough pointers in this thread above and another to other info and the responses therein to suggest it did exist as a kit.

there were a few other games made by williams after 85 - check out this page on klov and look at the list by the successor company for other games made. narc, joust 2, smash tv etc

not surprising - it appears to be an ongoing work of discovery and update. cnlmoore does remember promo info for it - and hopefully will find a copy of such ... :D

Hi,

The kit did exist. The website owner you got the pic from is a friend of mine and he has some of the bits. He has the marquee and the sideart. He's still looking for the CPO and bezel.

What you are looking for is very very very rare indeed.

Oliver

thank you oliver! sigh. i wonder if any klover has one of the cpo or bezels in spare parts or on some cab that wont necessarily be 1942! ??????

The game existed. The instruction manual is here: http://arcarc.xmission.com/PDF_Arcade_Williams/1942_(16-3030-1010)_Mar_1_1985.pdf

It is possible that there was some legal conflict between Williams and CapCom licensing the game that prevented widespread distributions.

Edit: It is also available in MAME: http://www.emuparadise.org/M.A.M.E....OMs/1942_(Williams_Electronics_license)/10886
There is also a nice overview at arcade-history: http://www.arcade-history.com/?n=1942&page=detail&id=26898
GGDB.com also has a picture of a Williams 1942 board (look at lower right corner of board):

I picked up a Williams 1942 this weekend. It was a converted Pac Man cabinet.

It has the Williams CPO, Marquee, PCB and Sideart (1 side only).

The CPO has some nice details, but mine is unfortunately cracked at the angle.

Note that the PCB has a Capcom label + Williams label that reads: ("Aeroboto" T.M. Computer Program Copyright 1984 Williams Electronics, Inc.). Maybe "Aeroboto" was Williams original name for the game?

I really like the detail in the sideart. The commentary from the pilot is reminiscent of a vintage comic strip.

Hey Doug, I was second in line for that! You beat me to the punch unfortunately. Nice score!!! If you ever think of selling...

The seller said he had another caller 5 minutes after me. He was cool enough to hold it until Saturday for me to pick up. It plays blind and I'm going to do the complete G07 rebuild - Flyback, Caps, HOT, Horizontal Width coil. I wish it had the original bezel. This one is just black. Oh, and I had to carry it down 26 steps - Ugh! I think that's a record.

what bezel do you have on it ?

Cpo

thats a shame about no bezel.

hey, would you be willing to scan the CPO ? i'd like to repro the CPO so i can setup a cab for 1942...

:)

I just picked up one of these my self. It has the Williams side art, Board but it has a generic capcom cpo, black bezel and a capcom version of the marquee. The williams cpo has been stuck on the front of the cab just below the coin door. Kinda funny. It took me a minute to figure out what happend there.

1942

Ok, I jus looked this game over real good. The board in it is identical to the one Yellow dog posted so I thought it would be the Williams version. Upon closer inspection. It does not have the Williams sticker. It seems the Willims version and the Capcom versions look the same except for the sticker. What is the difference? Pics:

Aaron, is there any chance that you could (or someone else) try scanning the sticker from the kick panel before you remove it ?
I ask this because on reviewing this article: http://www.retrokade.com/temp/1942-williams.jpg I realised that what you have is one half of the Williams 1942 bezel! turn that pic vertically and compare it to the news print article and you will see what i mean!
Cheers, Andy

I'm glad to read this about Aeroboto...I have (somewhere) some boards labeled aeroboto and I never knew what that game was. This explains it.

Thanks,
John

does anyone have or know of a source for the piece of artwork in the post by 7146aaron immediately above this ? either repro or NOS ? it is one half of the williams 1942 kit bezel artwork...
