Hi all,
I have a Black Rose pin that is having a DMD problem and I am at a loss on how to proceed. The issue is that some dots on the display don't light up however, it isn't always the same dots. The missing dots are different for each screen and sometimes different for the same image during different cycles.
Also, it only starts after the pin has been on for about 30 minutes.

I've read through everything at pinrepair.com and I have done the following:
-Swapped out the high voltage dot matrix display controller board for one that is verified working
-Swapped out the DMD display with another that is verified working
-Reseated and cleaned the pins of the ASIC chip on the CPU
-Reseated the ribbon cables

The problem is STILL there.

The only other things I can think of is to replace the ribbon cables. Is there something I'm missing? Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

you might want to change the cable ribbons because these do go bad after time.I had the same problem with my Addams and i replaced the ribbon cables and it worked Marco specialities sells these ribbons

Are ribbon cables the only thing left to try?

Is it strange that it gets worse after it has been on for a bit? I would think with a bad ribbon cable it would be consistent from the moment it was powered on. (but what do I know)

yes has anyone ever updated the display rom?
Not to my knowledge. Could it be a bad rom?

Not that I know a lot, but it could be that the wire is getting hot and expanding, making the connection worse. From the way you describe it, it does not sound like a out gassing problem. That usually gets better the longer the game is on. A new cable sounds like the best "cheap" option to try. Do you have another display you can swap out with the problem one?

you've tried a known working display and controller board and problem is STILL there

seems like the only parts that havent been "tested" are the ribbon cables

have you put the game into test mode and tested the display ? and what happens
