Tonight I finally installed new rubbers and cleaned & waxed the playfield. Also made a new gasket out of cardboard for the led display in the playfield (the ball was hopping around and hitting the glass, that panel cover was part of the cause, sunk in just deep enough).

Wow, I knew this would bring some life to the game, but damn. The ball moves almost double the speed it did before. More improtantly, I've played about a dozen games so far and it hasnt hopped once. Nice.

On a side note, I finally started using the flippers one at a time last month. That makes a huge difference, and now I understand why collectors were giving me a hard time about using both flippers simultaneously.

Heres the playfield. Still far from showroom, but she's good enough for me.

Also swapped the left/right slingshot coils around to determing if my left coil (which is blowing fuses unless I cut the wires, rendering it useless) and determined the coil is fine. So I know now the problem is definitely in the Solenoid PCB, which I've already looked over a dozen times. Guess it's time for a new one. Who's got an extra?

i know the feeling..new rubbers make a big difference, thats the first thing i change now when i get a new pin and they even look worn. your pin looks good to me.i would like to have one.i have never seen pics of a pacman pin..cool!!!!!!

New rubbers, waxing and most importantly, a new set of pinballs!! I can't stress how important it is to replace pinballs. Every pin I get the poor pinballs are all beat up, dull and just grinding away at the playfield each time its played =(

Makes a world of difference! Faster, smoother and just looks so nice!

I agree new balls with rubbers and a wax makes any pin play way better.
Machine looks great!

The ball is new, was one of the first things I replaced. Definitely more action. Spoke a little soon though, the ball hopped on me a few times today, but nowhere near as much as it used to, and nowhere near the flippers. Now on occasion it smacks the glass after a hard shot to the targets on the RH side. Oh well, still a major improvement.

I just ordered a new transistor for Q9 on the Solenoid PCB (linked to the left slingshot). If that dosent solve the problem, I'll be in the market for a new Solenoid PCB I guess. Also ordered a Bally Diamond decal for the coin door.

Agree, one of the biggest diferent I ever notice on one of my machines was when I waxed my Xenon. Man what a difference!!!

Anyone here wax their ramps?
I heard about waxing the STTNG Delta ramp, but haven't tried it yet.
