I've been in the hobby a relatively short time, but got into some good deals early, and built up a collection of classics quickly. I'm rapidly (as in, within weeks) going into a transition phase of "omg I need to grab stuff!" to "nah..I don't need that." I realize this is a normal thing, I just didn't think it would hit so quickly. Maybe it's because I see an end game already, and have other hobbies I'm passionate about (cycling!) that are more about lifestyle than arcade gaming. Space IS limited, though I have a lot to work with, and I will not resort to storage units or cluttering the house with cabs.

Right now I'm working on totally rebuilding a portion of my basement from a gym into an arcade. I really want to see this thing through and not drag it out like some of my projects. All gym equipment has been moved elsewhere, and I've pulled up the carpeting in the back half of the area, and am extending the wood flooring so it's one big continuous space. I definitely see more video games, but I'm looking for "more" now. I'd like some pins...3-4 tops (don't laugh, you pinheads!) to compliment the video games. Maybe even a pool table, or air hockey...something physical. More vids too...just not any old game, at this point.

I know a lot of you veteran collectors have gone through this. I just didn't expect to be there so soon. We all; me, my wife, and my 6yr old son; all love the "arcade" as it's been growing and changing. It'll definitely remain a part of our lives.

It's been a long, heavy lifting kinda day. I'm tired, and rambling...I know. Time for some whiskey...

Nice collection of games you have there, can't wait to see how your game room turns out. with finding games, deals, etc. it pretty much depends on your location, Fl. has been kind of dried out with classics for a while with the exception of Ms Pac's & few other more common games.

You think Florida is dry? North Dakota is a wasteland sir. It is like Steel Dawn around here.

Vader,
Anytime you pass through Fargo, let me know. I see you on here and I am relatively new to this area of the country and would not mind meeting some more local guys. I will say though that the few guys here in Fargo are great. Take care.

nice games there. I've only been at this a year but due to money issues and now a car wreck I may not be able to grab the things I want for quite awhile(why can't I just have a car that breaks for good 10+ years down the road?). I still just have one cab and after it schooled me I came up with a plan based on the space I have:

I'll grab a Neo Geo, a PC 10 and a few common classics. I really have a lot of things I want but I'm cutting down on the list but my dream is bigger than my current space.

With Unlimited space here are some big cabs I'd like:
Super Offroad (I don't need the track pack)
Sit down driver and/or cockpits[linked ones all that much the better]
Crisis Zone
6P Xmen

Yep. I've seen a lot of good peeps go down this same road, replacing exercise equipment with arcade games, staying up all night fixing/playing games, drinking booze, encouraging family and friends with phrases like "try this game, you'll love it", or "it's fun".

Nice basement. Looks like it's coming along great. I am in the same exact boat as you. I started collecting not long ago, accumulated a nice collection, and almost immediately transitioned into the "I don't need that" or "I don't have the room/money for that" phases.

I'm also in the same boat with the basement. I have a walkout basement with two rooms I want to turn into an arcade. I plan to take out the dividing wall between the rooms to make one long room but I'm afraid the wall is load-bearing so that has me nervous. I'm okay with putting in posts but still I don't want the back half of the house to come down on me literally.

I also have absolutely no clue what color to paint the room. I'd like to primarily use some shade of green but I can't decide on dark or light. Light makes the room look bigger and less ridiculous in the event that I have to remove the arcade from the house. But dark looks better with the games in place...I think.

Sorry didn't mean to thread-jack. Just keep up the good work. Oh and I enjoy cycling as well. Luckily I live in close proximity to tons of nice trails.
