What is funny here, I am quickly be labeled here as the bad guy, and it seems the KLOV motto is "pictures, or it didn't happen". I think I am far from being the "free police". I just thought it would be nice to know what the monitor is, before I go there.

that is understandable wanting to know what it is but think of it this way if you knew what it was and someone was selling it instead what would you pay your already saving that price and would have spent the gas money and time also
i myself wouldent drive an hour anyway for just one tube pic or not now if was a truckload that would be diffrent

I was really stressing a CL posted when I saw an ad for a Food Fight cocktail. He lived in the boonies and didn't have a digital camera. He tried to use his phone, but it couldn't send it because of his cell phone plan. I kept pressing him for photo's. I called him and he seemed stressed about getting the photo's. I decided to drive 1.5 hours and take a look. Great guy. I ended up buying it. I just wish I had room for a non-working Burgertime and Nintendo Tennis Red Tent.

I would mention to the CL poster that I'm making the trip to pick it up and not to get rid of it in the mean time. It's only courtesy.

Might as well just put the item to the curb and post the listing.

That's what I do with anything I put on craigslist for free. List the cross streets where they can find it, but no house number or phone number, so I don't get bothered.

But, that said, I also put up a picture when listing it.

Just having fun with the Price Police graphic. ;) Free is full of risks, unfortunately... Sometimes you score big, sometimes you waste gas and time.

Think of it as "gambling!"

So most of you on here would rather have people come to your house, and possibly not take the item, and wasting your time, versus taking a photo, and avoiding wasting my time and thiers.

If I were listing the free item, I would put a picture and details just to avoid dealing with all the people asking for information.

I think I am far from being crazy about this, just wanted to know.......
You posted here because you're upset someone giving something away for free wouldn't do the work you wanted him to because it wasn't worth his trouble so you could decide whether it was worth YOUR trouble. Why would we ever find that crazy? ;)

As I stated, Offer him $5 or $10 paypal for a pic. Would it not be better to be out few bucks and not waste time driving and gas if it is not what you want. He has no obligation to do squat. Give him an incentive for taking the pic :)

Kevin

I just listed a centipede UR cabinet with a working power supply and power brick right here on the forums for free(with pics) so at least someone will know what the hell it looks like and if its worth the trip. Another idiot craigslister; there's a lot of em on both sides, buyers and sellers. Jeez you gotta at least give a better description and post up a pic. The dude probably wasted more time responding to people that wanted a pic or at least the monitor brand name or #; if he would've put up more info it would've been easier. Why post the damn thing at all? Why not bury it out back or throw it in the trash? Stupid craigslisters man, I tell ya...

No, I haven't ever dealt with the "Free Stuff" ad. But I have seen plently of ads with photos, or at least info on what the item is.

Actually I am referring to you listing something as free on cl. The typical response you will get is someone asking you to take pics, transport it to their house, do their laundry while you are there, and give them $50 for their trouble.

It doesn't take long before you quickly stop responding kindly to questions.

I would have to side with the CL poster too. While I completely understand that a picture and other information in the ad would make so much more sense and make the ad more effective....... BUT, that is all the crap you have to do to sell something... You might as well just slap a price on it once you have done all of that work. ;)

Actually someone at work told me to do that. Put a price on the item and place it outside.
And most likely it will be stolen with no questions asked.....LOL
