Alright... I've now sourced not one, not two, but three different boardsets ... all untested. I am HOPING that I'll be able to get at least ONE if not TWO working sets from the bunch. They'll be here sometime next week.

In the mean time...it's time to clean the cab up a bit.

Does ANYONE have ANY idea what a decent match is for the off white color? Also, I notice there is blue speckles in the paint... is there an easy way to simulate that or should I just stick with the off white color?

For the blue specks you could try using a stiff bristle toothbrush. Add a little paint and rub your thumb across the bristles. You may have to experiment a bit with amount of paint/ bristle strength/force used on the bristles, but you should be able to come fairly close to the original.

The toothbrush technique works well. I've used in on Gorf and Pac-man successfully.

I am not sure if I am going to bother. The cab looks good a solid color and my luck, I'd screw it up.

I am waiting on:

T-Molding, side art, and a few different "untested" boardsets.

EDIT: Mail came... Side art is here!! Same with 2 of the 3 untested boardsets I purchased. Time to go see if I can put a working set.

Bother with what, painting it? It cleaned up good enough that you are gonna stick with the original paint? If it looks that good, I would say to hell with painting it too. But remember, you are putting brand new t-molding, sideart, and overlay on it...

Welp... my parade was pissed on somewhat. While I did manage to find a combination of boards that actually worked... I discovered my monitor is jacked... only blue is showing. I didn't know that before because, well, all I got was a starfield and blue lines.

I hope a rebuild fixes the issue.

No...I already painted it... I don't think i am going to bother with the blue specking...

Oh, ok. Has it been proven that they all had the blue speck? Or just a certain run? What the hell is the point anyways....

One of these days I will get going on my Pacman stencil job and am still wavering on the blue speckle paint.

mine didn't have the specks and so i didn't include them in my restoration. to be honest, i think the cab looks perfect without them and somehow they don't seem to fit. i never understand their "function" in the first place!

Here's just a taste... she's not finished.

TO DO:

Control panel repaint...CPO is in pretty damn good condition so I think i will likely TRY to remove it in one piece then re-apply after I paint. I will have to mask off the front art then do my best to touch it up afterward.

T-Molding... just waiting for the "leather" stuff to arrive Friday according to UPS.

Coin Door... It's just sitting in there with one bolt...I needed it in the cab to do some testing and get the boardset working (which I managed to do).

Monitor... I currently have a K4900 in it that has a slight shake and focus issue... the K4600 that was in it only shows blue and there are other issues. I will be rebuilding that chassis. If I fail at that, I do have a G07 in the wings I will also be rebuilding. HOPEFULLY one or the other will work out... until then, the K4900 will do.

That's about it.

Well not sheeeiiit. I was playing tonight when the game stopped and just started flashing the stars only...

...a power cycle fixed the issue. 5 minutes later the same thing... but it took multiple power cycles to fix it. A couple minutes later and it's back to flashing the stars only (real faintly)... thus far no amount of power cycles is fixing it.

Grrr...

EDIT: NOTE - I posted this problem in the REPAIR section... if you have any suggestions, etc...please answer there. THANKS!

note - frizz, you may want to check with a known working monitor to make sure that's the issue. WoW uses an RGB converter board separate from the monitor that can cause issues like that. it's usually screwed to the right side of the cab.

I am using the known working monitor right now... the other one is on the bench. (BTW - Are you referring to the flashing starfield issues or the blue only issue?)

I think Aarcadeshop is your only option for the CPO.

Back in 2003 about 50 complete WoW control panels were done. Maybe you can see if anyone has one that they didn't use.
