On the lower end, depending on who actually did the restoration.

Done by:
Your next door neighbor's second cousin: $6K range
High End Pins (Chris Hutchinson): $9K and beyond...

Wait, wait, wait. You're telling me that a game is worth more if a certain "somebody" does it?

Who's to say that my work is not better than anyone else's?

To give an example, what about some of the Arcade Game restorations here? Would it be Chris? Phet? Even...me? Look back at some of the posts from all 3 of us. Excuse me if I forgot someone in this list... ;)

What "talent" does it take to restore a pin? There is nothing that anyone does that I can not do myself...when restoring a game. I am capable of doing my own powder coating. Not just dropping it off to a shop. Who does that? Who has a "pristine" collection that others that see really like the workmanship put into it?

I just find it amazing that a pin would be worth more restored by one person over another, IF THE QUALITY of work is the same...

I think the difficulty is that he's an established restorer with a recognized name, and proof of work and turnaround. You're paying for the name recognition to be sure, but if other people respect the name, then the value could hold out.

Heck, looking at his site, I want my machines to look like that. Won't ever happen, because I'm not spending 4000$ on getting a Space Shuttle or Pinbot restored to that level. =\

*edit* Want to powder coat me some custom legs for my Pinbot? :p

You are right, if the quality of the work is the same sure... but I doubt there is anyone here that can do the kind of work Chris does.

Check this one out if you want to see the quality of Chris's work:

If someone cannot urethane clear the cabinets or screen the back of the head then the quality of the work is not the same right off the bat. That doesn't even take into account the end result.
