I can possibly pick up a free Space Invaders Deluxe with a decent Cab, Plexi Bezel, scratched up CP, monitor with vertical collapse and no game boards.

Worth it? I like the history of the game but Im not even sure its worth it for free

Yes, yes I would pick up that game for free.

Fix the monitor, buy a PCB, and then play the hell out of it.

If it's got vertical collapse, that's highly likely just a broken yoke wire or something. Those old bw monitors work pretty good, they hardly ever go into collapse in most cases. They have really prissy yoke wires though, some of them have resistors in them, etc. so it's probably something simple.

Do it only if you're in love with Space Invaders Deluxe.

If you're not, it's going to end up as a project that you'll probably eventually dump onto someone else.

From what Ive read they do not sell for much I was just worried about putting more into it than its worth... I like the game wasnt sure if putting money back in to it was worth doing thanks for the response!

I am not a complete lover of the game.... like the art though cool looking game

I thought I saw something similar listed locally, but I already have a SID. I would recommend getting it. The insides are very basic so it's very easy to work on. You can always find boards for it and I recommend getting an 8-1 Braze kit. It's only of the simplest games I have, but it usually gets a lot of play when I have people over.

I haven't been able to find a decent SID cab in 3 years, empty or no, unless its owner wanted something like $400+ for it. Personally I think it's one of the quintessential classic era cabs. IMO If you have the space you should jump on it this evening.

I have a decent empty stashed in my sisters garage that I am holding onto in case a trashed one shows up.

Interestingly enough there was an extra tube in the cab... no chassis

The verticle line seen on the screen I think had color in it... not 100% sure but is that possible on a bw monitor? Im wondering if someone tried to shove a color monitor in there and never got it to work

I am tight on space otherwise I would just for the curiosity grab it tonight seems like a no brainer since its free but havent decided yet

I see some stuff taped, that's a bad sign... there should be 4 wires coming off the yoke (orange copper wire thing on the top of the picture). Look and see if all 4 of those have been spliced, or if they're all connected, etc.
