...plus shipping? Seller states the only flaw is a crack in the artwork that he patched up with packing tape to prevent further damage. What do you think?

Ask yourself this: How much more fun would my pin be with this looking back me? We are in an Ebay era that jacks the price up on alot of things. Unless you know where another one is I would buy it. Have you looked for reproduction translight opportunities? Hello Google!

$200 to me no.

The packing tape he used is on there forever now, you can't remove it without damage.

Will he take offers or did you try already?

Only other one I found is $300 shipped and the seller claims it has light wear along the bottom. He doesnt have a computer apparently so he can't provide photos either. I have google'd the hell out of this and cant find repro anywhere.

I'd sell you a nice Xenon machine for $850.. :)

I think $200 is a little high, but they don't come up for sale very often

I'm guessing this one is better than your current one?

Ahh, I see. Well then this one might be a good choice. You can always buy it and keep looking for a better one, then sell this one.

And no computer for pics from the other seller! WTH, don't go that route!

I wonder if you freeze the tape if it would come off, either way $200. for that condition sounds high, but I've never tried to buy that particular glass

Personally, if mine was trashed, I would buy it. Looks pretty good to me. If light shows through that one spot, you could always put something on top of the tape to block the light.

That's just me though. A perfect one may come along someday but how long are you willing to wait?

have you tried posting a $300 wanted ad for it? It might be enough money to scare out a nicer one..

I would pass on the one for $200 with that damage..

I really dont want to spend that kind of money for a backglass. Really I dont even want to spend $200 but I dont see any other options. This same seller has one in perfect condition but wants twice as much money for it.

I can wait for a bargain, but have yet to find one. Only saw one go on eBay recently and it went for around $250 before shipping IIRC.

Either way this seller won't budge. $250 shipped and insured.

I wonder if Palmentere or KC gameroom has any? I'm going to KC next weekend.

I find it hard to believe xenon glass would neot be reproduced. Its a pretty desireable pin.

Faced with a $250 for that one or $400 for perfect, I would go $400...

I would email all the other owners of xenon. Maybe they know of possible repro glass..

I assume you have asked here..

You would think so. There was a short run of repro Mr. & Mrs. Pac-Man that I got my hands on, but I seem to be striking out with this Xenon. I have spent hours searching and asking around.

Havent asked Pinball Resource, I suppose I could try but I doubt they have anything like that.

Some backglass is better than no backglass. If it makes you enjoy your Xenon more, and adds at least $100 to the resale value, then I'd go for it.

If that tape was only recently applied, I'd see if there is any chance of getting it off *safely* - I can't stress the safely part enough.

Problem with tape is that it tends to shrink over time, depending upon the type of tape. When it does, if the adhesive is still strong, it can pull up the artwork with it.

I've saved a few basket cases that were taped up where the tape ended up lifting the paint by just laying it all as flat as possible, and clearing over it to stabilize the mess - saved a Space Shuttle backglass that was otherwise going to be missing about 1/4 of it's paint..

$200 sounds a bit high to me as well, but this is a desirable pin. The good news is that generally, the inner backglasses on these are pretty pristine - they've been perfect on the two Xenon's I've owned, both of which were in pretty rough shape otherwise when I got them. So - if you don't want to drop that kind of cash, just keep your eyes open and be patient...

Classic Playfield Reproductions reproduced the playfield, and has reproduced Silverball Mania and Fathom backglasses, which also use the mirrored inks. I'd be very surprised if they don't eventually repro the Xenon backglass, but it could be years down the road for all we know.

Go look at FrizzleFried's machine and then ask if you'd like to have that backglass or not. (I'm guessing you'll buy the backglass after seeing FF's)

I just found this one for $150. Looks pretty good, but the seller has never shipped a backglass and seems nervous about it. What do you think, and who would be the best carrier to ship it?

Yeah that one looks real nice!

I've never bought a BG myself, but I did just get a piece of auto glass shipped to me and UPS delivered it. No problems, no breakage.

I also got a piece of cocktail table glass delivered months back, UPS did that too and no issues.

Both were marked fragile of course.
