Would you put an overlay on this?

Its dirty but most of that will clean up, but there are a few cig burns above the 1 and 2 player buttons. Worth replacing?

I say no. Not for home use. Hit that with a wet magic eraser and it should come out sparkly nice.

^ This.

I like leaving my games as original as possible. All of the bumps, scuffs and graffiti are battle scars which I feel add character. Most of the games I played growing up didn't look like they just came out of the factory either.

I'm also in the camp of clean-up and repair and only replace when necessary.

Ditto for this statement.

+1 for clean it and leave it. You're more likely to see a new one crack at the bend and the original one is in great shape, just needs to be cleaned.

I agree with everyone, I have been keeping things original lately anyways. I'll be sure to post an after picture, will probably get to cleaning it tonight.

reproduction overlays = crap... Some repros approach ok, but its never 100%. I just saw a burgertime repro overlay and it was not that close to the original.. I could tell 5 feet away.

If its not missing part of the overlay (like more than 5%) I would never replace it with a repro..

I'd leave it. I recently replaced one on a Joust, there's actually a nice repro available from arcadeshop but the one I had needed replacing since there was about a 3 inch rip in it. If it's distracting, replace it, if it's just normal wear and tear but most of it's cool, leave it alone.

For me, if the cpo is damaged and it can hurt a player's hand, I will replace it. Otherwise, it is probably going to stay original.
