Would you pay 100$ for a Street Fighter 2 with bad monitor?

If it's a Dynamo cab in good shape I would pay $100 for it, fix it and sell it for profit. It puts a working game in someone's hands, some money for other games in mine and keeps a cab out of a landfill.

Ive always been a big fan of street fighter so ill probably keep it

He's still better off buying local and fixing it himself. At $175 the one you recommend is nearly double the asking price and likely more than double what he'll end up getting it for. A monitor with Horizontal Collapse is not an expensive fix... short of sending it out for repair, you couldn't spend $75 to repair it unless you bought 3 kits...

No one said it was a screaming deal, but I personally don't feel it's a bad deal either. There's lots of good deals to be had, but a 10hr drive to pay double to buy a working game doesn't seem like one to me...

You didn't read this part in his original post:
its in good shape besides the monitor, im realy dont know much about fixing monitors

So, if he was to try repairing it, he could be in for a lot more than $75 once he messes (if he does) something up.

Or, if he sends it out for repair, there is shipping both ways to add onto that, which would be more than $75.

Where does it say that the monitor problem is 'Horizontal Collapse' anyway?
All he says is:
horizontal picture went out
That could mean anything in Craigslist talk. It could be completely dead and that's just what the seller calls it..."picture went out".

Also, I don't remember telling him to buy JoshBrown80's machine, I was just showing that one has been up for sale for $175 for quite a while and it is still up for sale. As a matter of fact, it is $175 or best offer. I wouldn't expect anybody to drive 10+ hours for any Street Fighter game.

Alright I have slight update on this. I just talked to the guy and he said he bought it 14 yrs ago and its been sitting in his backroom of his upholstery shop and been in well climated area and never touched. He said when he first got it , it was damn near new and he and his dad was trying to bring it to a room upstairs in his house and he said the handle on the back broke and he said it dropped no more than 2 foot and it threw the monitor off, he said you can only see about 2 to 3 inches of the game on screen. He said everyhting else works wonderful, coins up,speakers are nice and clear sounding. I am picking this up tomorrow and will get pics of what its doing, hopefully this will be a easy fix, he said he didnt mess with the monitor adjustments or anything since then, just put it in storage because he was so mad and he doesnt have any electronic knowledge of stuff. What do you guys think, any ideas before i get some pics, it would be nice to be easy fix so i can play it some. Thanks

I don't know if thats an easy fix . Damaged from being dropped is not good .

is there anything i should check, maybe something came loose?
First off, I wouldn't believe any regular person that tells you they didn't mess with it.

I'm sure there are tons of stories out there where a perfectly working game stopped working, was immediately put into storage and not touched, then when the new buyer goes to look at it there would be no chassis...or parts missing elsewhere.

Probably not an easy fix like a connector. But, if it is a 4600, make sure the chassis cards are plugged all the way in.

Don't diagnose it while there, wait to do that once you get home.

I got a guy willing to sale me a Street Fighter 2 with bad monitor for 100$. Cab is in really good shape and he said horizontal picture went out, but plays blind. So I think 100$ is a great deal.

100$ may be a great deal but $100 is not a great deal. Free would be a great deal and within 10 miles.

you guys seriously overpay, non working st fighter 2, lol
i have purchased about 300 games like that for 10-20 ea tops
but then again im sure how much of a hobbiest i am more of a profiteer
yes salvage is over or around 100, but if someone offered you a rusty ol 65 mustang with some parts in it would you pay for the sum total of the salvagable parts ? i hope not.

Uh.... http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=43741

I've got a good feeling about that monitor. I'll bet it's an easy fix. Could be as simple as the vertical size knob moved or something. Or like said above, if it's a 4600 the card could have popped out a little bit. Sounds like worst case is some cracked solder joints.

Hey, don't forget me. I've been supporting you on this from the start. SF2 is one of my most played games in my collection.

Well I picked it up today, its not as in good condition as the guy said, no were near realy. The cab is solid though. Looks like it was converted form something from Atari. Didnt have back door either, the wiring is also a hack job. I did plug it up and nothing happened when I turned it on, but I havnt had time to look at it untill I get my kids down for a nap. I did pay 100$ like I agreed I would to the guy. Ill let yall now more when I look at it in depth tonight. Yeah I probably over paid but at least I got something, I plan just doing a quick repaint and new t molding, and get it operational and maybe sale it it around locally for 350$(which some kid will buy)

it's not a Dynamo Looks like an Atari to me

I had a converted Dig Dug that I flipped last month. Bought it for $150 but it had a working CPS3 board that I wanted. Turned out the cab and monitor did work although it needed a cap kit. Fixed that and swaped out the artwork what I wanted from it and then it ended up like this.

I don't know... it's a lot of work for a conversion. I wouldn't want a conversion.
