Would you make a 1370 mile, ~26 hr drive for a game?

1370 miles for two games is plum crazy.

... but I would drive 900 miles for 7 games!

I did that to pick up a car once... It was my Spec Miata project car. :)

I drove from northern BC to Vancouver once to pick up a Star Wars UR, Phoenix, and PAC-MAN that was a 18 hour drive, each way!

I know... it sucks! I have a speeding ticket from Manitoba for going 128 in a 100 zone... $406. :(

You're lucky it wasn't 150, cause that's where they seize your car, and it doesn't matter if you're from the US.
Two guys were caught doing 180 down the 400 here, I think they were from Ohio. Their cars went bye-bye, it's clearly posted on HUGE signs so there's no getting out of it.

That's a steep freaking fine. In Ontario that's like a $125 fine as 20 over is a $95 fine on a 100km road, though no cop will ever stop you for doing 120 on a highway.

212 miles too much. ;)

Road trips are fun, though. And make great stories.

Once on a 570 mile road trip (10hrs) going from Tucson up through Phoenix I saw a pickup truck with about 5-9 pinballs in the back! I think during the summer of 2008 or 09. Someone scored big, a person from KLOV perhaps?

They don't post those big signs in Manitoba, but they are all over Ontario, and after that ticket I was constantly watching my speedometer! The highway I was on was long, straight, boring and almost no cars, so having a speed limit of 100 km is crazy!

I drove 700 miles RT to pick up a Galaga for $450 that I found on Craig's List. I knew that was on the high side of the game value but the guy had lots of photos on CL and answered many questions by phone.

Rather than being a disappointment, it turned out even better than I thought. He had said that some game tech had "fixed a dead monitor" in the game recently. When I opened up the the back, wow... it wasn't "fixed", it had been replaced with a brand new Vision Pro.

I figure that, by definition, Ebay and Craig's List are sellers markets--millions of people see the listings so in a sense, whatever you get for something sold was probably close to the top value for it. Some exceptions, but the real deals I've found have been local. I picked up a decent Pac-Man (turned into a Ms w/speedup chip) for $200. But, it needed a monitor so it wasn't a steal either.

The one that broke my heart was a Williams Sidewalk Engineer game that was on Ebay for $650. It appeared at first glance to be in superb condition. But when I looked closely at the photos, you could tell that the guy had literally sawed the game in half (laterally) to get it into his basement. Ouch. So I passed.

I live near and around Los angeles.
Finding a bargain on any game is tough.
I bought three project games. (something wrong or beated to heck and Here a pile of parts [named affectionly of course])
They all took traveling to find them all on craig's list.

I would travel that 1370 for a nice bad cat pin or a Nice 35" presentation monitor ( ok well maybe Not that far on the presentation monitor LOL )
