would you have your games 2day without the Web?

I pretty much got all of my games either from people on KLOV and RGVAC, or at auction, and since I probably wouldn't have even known about the auctions without the web...
No.

Maybe I would have a few, I first went to the NJ auction in Cherry Hill to get my games then it quickly changed over to eBay. The kicker is I found out about the auction via the internet but I might have been able to locate the Auction place by other means. Honestly I might not have any at all if it wasn't for the internet. Definitely none would work without the internet.

Short answer: nope! I have acquired both of my current projects via the web, and rediscovered that you could play arcade games on MAME around 1997-1998.

Minus my Ms. Pac, Galaga, Pole Position, Route 16, Crazy Kong, and Space Invaders... yeah, I'd still have most of my machines without the web... would most of them be running or complete?... no.

First two..

My first two games I got from newspaper ads..and my third from a local operator..

The 'net has provided most of my other purchases (and sales)

I diffenetly would NOT have sold as many machines without the internet, thats for sure..

Nor would I have met so many cool people nationwide (and worldwide)...

Every game I have I found online somewhere.

Same goes for my vintage school book collection....the internet (particularly eBay) has been indispensable to locating items.

I aquired my first game, a nice Donkey Kong, from a friend of a friend for $50.00 and it played blind. Once home I immediately went to the web for a manual for the monitor found the brightness pot, rotated it and had a beautiful picture.

All the rest have come from the web, with the exception of Ms. Pac who came to me from a friend, and she also played blind. (rebuilt the GO7 chassis this time).

Interestingly, my last four games have come from a local operator who I met though Craig's List, but ended up being only 10 minutes down the road from me; we use the phone now..

But for certain, as others have expressed, if there was no web I wouldn't have the games I do because they would all be big expensive paper weights!

Absolutely not. All of my games have been from the net. I either have drill or my bar open on Saturdays so I always miss the auctions.

Nope and I might go as far to say I wouldn't have any without the internet, OK maybe not as there are a few retail arcade stores in my area. Hell I didn't know anything about this hobby when I first got into it. I sure as hell wouldn't have as many though as those retail stores are quite pricey.

I might physically have the games (doubtful), but none of them would work without the tech and hard to find parts the internet provides.

Almost certainly not. MAME is what got me into the hobby in the first place (12 years ago), and of course with no internet there would be no MAME.

There were ways to get online before the Internet. So I think that Mame would still live, but wouldn't be as popular and polished with hundreds of individuals working on it. Being a former SysOp with my own BBS, I would say that things would be done differently, but yes, I would still have some.

I only gotten seven of my games via web transactions. Most of mine came from Alladin's Castle stores. They were usually in good condition and always worked well. Plus the price they sold old standups for was good. Other than my Killer Instinct cab all of the internet related ones were fixer-uppers in one way or another. Usually easy fixes because the owners have no idea how they work. People like that want a fortune if the games work but will sell them for a pack of gum if they don't.
