Would you fix or replace a Taito power supply?

Just curious which way people fall on the issue. A cheap switcher can replace all of the voltages, but would you rather have your game all original?

being a former op, i prefered just adapting to a switcher.
but, in the case of taito games (el action, qixx, etc) there is an all-important
sense line that is required for the game to start, it essentially tells the PCB to start because the voltages are okay. that throws a monkey wrench into things although i believe there are workarounds.

I had the same question about my Ms Pac. Many people said to throw a switcher in it as they are new, and more reliable.

Screw originality. You want it to work, yeah?

Replace... taito and stern supplies are trash, which is why I made the ATX adapters for my games :)

"I prefer to keep all origional... But at times I have thrown switchers in."

2nd that. But you might be better off to 86 that Taito PS.

Eventually when the cab is done, I plan on having a fully working, original taito power supply sitting in my frontline cabinet, right next to the switcher that is powering the game.

Who cares what it looks like inside? A modern, more reliable switcher is the only way to go, IMHO.
