I am considering purchasing a NFL Blitz 99 that is playing blind. Seller says monitors is bad. If I replace the current monitor and chassis with a working 25" K7100 P538 setup, should I have a functional arcade machine? Or am I missing something?

Also, how hard would it be in the future to add three additional buttons to each player setup so that I would have the potential to switch out the pcb with a game like mortal kombat 4 or street fighter?

I am new to the world of arcade repair, modification, etc. so please be gentle if I am saying something stupid.

you should be able to swap the monitor with a few a caveats..

1: cabinet originally had a 25" monitor in it.
2: cabinet has an isolation transformer.
3: cabinet might be wired for 49 way joysticks.

If its a midway cab and its a conversion, good chance it has a k7000 monitor in it.. Pretty easy monitor chassis to fix. If you can't handle fixing it, if you can pull it, you can easily find someone to fix it for you.

if its a dedicated cab, it probably has a medium rez monitor in it. Unless it has a dual rez, you will have to swap it to play MK & SF stuff..

If you have a 4 player control panel, if you patient, you might find a 2 player control panel for sale for the cab.. The control panel unbolts, so its pretty easy to swap..

blitz can change from medium rez to standard rez and from 49 way to 8 way sticks with dip switches. Not that much of a loss with both changes, so if you really want to, you can do it.. If it has 49 ways in it, you will have to change it to work with 8 ways as MK and SF will not work with 49 way sticks.

Dip switches aren't something you install, they are a little bank of tiny switches on the game circuit board used to set basic game options.
