Picking up a pole position 2 cockpit tomorrow.
Would renting an 8ft bed truck from Menards or u haul be enough? Also think it would needs straps? Never done this with a truck.
Only been using my RAV4 for everything so far

Thank you for confirming

Suggestion for OP: Bring as big of sheets as cardboard as you can find. Or even multiple smaller flattened boxes. Cardboard makes sliding the game way easier and also protect the back or sideart somewhat.

Getting it safely onto/off-of the truck bed probably is a two person job.
Ah, this brings back memories of moving my cockpits - SW, RB, OR, and SINI.

Resist the urge to play while driving.

And strap it down tight and away from the back window glass.

It's always bothered me that the game is riding backwards. It (and the pilot) should be facing forward.

Or perhaps it should be a Tail Gunner II cabinet.

You are now officially obligated to post that pic of us from last night, good sir.

Here ya go!

Note the universally sad faces here.
@jawhn about to cry. 😢

And look at those hands! So pale and sickly! Zaxxon is literally sucking the life out of the player!

Curse you Zaxxon!!!!!!!!!

I recommend a large piece of cardboard or I use thin 1/8" hardboard to flatten out the bed ridges. Moving blankets on top of hardboard slide very easily.

Another collector showed me an additional trick, using a 2' long piece of maybe 1-1/4" PVC pipe as a "roller." I put maybe 1 foot inside the edge of the tailgate, and as you tip the cabinet in it rests on the pipe and you can roll it along further into the bed.

For a cockpit, unless you're disassembling it, you may have a hard time getting it up into the bed though. A trailer may work best.

Good luck!

1. Yes, a truck will work.
2. It's a cockpit. Will you load it off a loading dock? That will work.
3. If not, better bring 5 STRONG friends to help lift it in, and safely lift it OUT of the truck.

I picked up a crated game. I used a U-Haul box truck, and loaded it on it's side into the back of the truck. To unload it, I backed the truck into the garage, and pushed the game out until I reached the tipping point, and then pulled it past that point and slowly let it come down to the floor. Then I went into the truck and stood it up. Worked fine.

I then had to spend a day removing it carefully from the crate.

The guy I picked this up from had a trailer and ramps. We pushed it up the ramps onto the trailer, then pushed it up the ramps from the trailer to the bed of the truck. At home I rented ramps from Home Depot for $15 and 3 of us carefully brought it down the ramps. If you do this, inspect the wheels of the cabinet. These wheels wanted to go any direction but straight and fought us the whole way down the ramp.
