Would a cap kit fix these problems?

I picked up a Zaxxon cocktail with a Nanao monitor back in January. It worked great when I first got it, but go figure, the monitor started acting up just a few months ago.

When the monitor is first powered on now, everything is extremely dim. Within the first 5-10 minutes, some of the colors seem to come back to 50% brightness while one color appears to be completely missing. After about 20-30 minutes, everything seems as good as new with all colors showing at full brightness.

Nice and simple question: would a cap kit fix this, or is it something worse?

I would lean towards it being the tube. find someone with a rejuvenator so you can test it. if the tube checks out, then you MIGHT be looking at a cap problem.

That's really unfortunate. I will see if I can find someone with a rejuvenator. In the meantime, is it safe to play after it has warmed up a little, or am I just doing more damage to it?

The only thing you can damage is the tube, but it's already on it's way out so who cares. You won't hurt the monitor chassis, it basically has no idea how shitty the picture looks, lol.
