No, I'm not talking about a CL deal gone bad. I'm talking about this thing. It neither crimps nor cuts nor strips wire well. What's the most worthless tool that you own?

Looks useful for stripping wire and crimping quick disconnects, if you're desperate. I have seen similar cheap tools like that where the two sides don't even meet in the same plane. Throw that thing out.

yeah pretty much..

if you really want to crimp insulated crimp connectors you need something like this

http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs...-googlebase-_-DX-_-100647831&locStoreNum=1956

for crimping molex machine pin connectors. something like this
http://www.jpcycles.com/product/910-851?utm_source=googleproducts&utm_medium=cse

would sure be nice. Back in the day my work had a gm terminal repair kit and it had the best racheting crimper ive ever used. Of course when i moved back to the area, got my job back, somebody stole the effing crimpers!

lol i have that same exact crimper, not sure what crap kit it came with but yea, compared to my bluepoint stripper (pn pwc 6), bob's molex crimp tool(pn ht1921) and bluepoint crimper (pn pwc-14) (got the bluepoint/snap-on stuff from when i was a mechanic :D ) absolute garbage.

Best cheap crimper

I'm one of those who believes in buying the best tools. Probably because my tools were my my money maker, crap tool = crap work.

BUT I have to admit that I bought a cheap crimper once from Harbor Freight in a pinch. I had lost (or someone stole) my T&B crimper while working at a Laundry place in a bad part of town and the closest place to buy tools was a Harbor Freight.

I purchased this:

http://www.harborfreight.com/9-1-2-half-inch-wire-crimping-tool-36411.html

And I have to say this thing works just as well my T&B. Honestly I keep this in my tool bag now and have had it for about 6 years. Probably one of the best quality tools sold at Harbor Freight.

I have one of those. I wouldn't use it to strip or crimp anything, but still works great for cutting down screws and rods. Just used mine on Saturday. :)

I have that tool. It's my 'backup' crimper. I got it mainly b/c it came in a big kit of solderless terminals and wire splicers. I keep it in my garage with my other backup tools. My frontline tools are all in a big plastic tote I carry with me.

That crimper actually works pretty good when you're crimping the solderless wire splicers and terminals. It'll do in a pinch.

Well I've had this stinking thing in my tool box for years and to date I can't think of a time that it's ever been useful for anything. So I tossed it unceremoniously into the trash. :)

have a similar crimper/stripper that came in a kit with a bunch of eyelets, butt connectors and such. it works pretty well, and i've never really had any issues with it. i need to upgrade to better stuff one of these days, as well as a soldering station, etc etc.

I've got a general rule - if the tool was apparently made by stamping out of a sheet, with no work beyond that, it's probably not a good too.

I opened this thread on the hope it would be a thread where everybody complains about the most useless tool in their toolbox.

For me, it'd (by far) be the ColdHeat Soldering Iron. What a complete P.O.S. I so wanted it to be good, too (I tried and tried, practiced, watched YouTube videos to learn it, etc.). Bought a PortaSol and never looked back.
