My Pole Position monitor went dark a few minutes the day after being on all day the previous day :-(
It is the apparently much hated TM202G, a converted Panasonic TV chassis.
I popped a new F002 fuse in it and turned on, a jet of flame appeared from the LOPT, so it needs a replacement LOPT and might as well do a cap kit and BU208A.
This monitor looked perfect, no screen burn at all so is it worth repairing or should I replace it ?
I have a Disco 2090DT with very slight burn but it needs a cap kit real bad, poor thing takes 2 mins to show anything at all....I actually have nearly every cap for it already.

Well I recapped the Disco with what I had and it is working great again.
Man, I fell sorry for those 3 caps in between the heat sink, they were scorched and leaking, C006 had burst.
I only had 10UF for C408 and C601, but I thought it better to have something new in there until I get the right ones. At least it proved I had a good monitor.

I am going to get the parts for the TM202G next time I order from Bob.

Personally I'd fix the TM202G... when they work they have a beautiful picture and like you said... they don't seem to suffer from screen burn very easily. :dunno:

Retro, why so negative :)
It has been pounded to death for 30 years, probably run well beyond its design specifications before it finally gave up.
It still looked great until the magic smoke escaped !!!

I have to say, the Disco with its Philips 19VMRP22 looks great for its age too. This tube does not seem to fade away like the 48 series in the K7000 do.
