Two mint cabinets with this guy in Hawaii, that have instruction cards in english and Japaness. No flaking paint on the tops, no dust in the cabs, and absolutely no burn on the monitors. I personally don't care for the game, he wants me to multi them, it's almost making me cry because the only thing wrong is the power supply is outputting 2.5 volts which fried a cap on the board, I'm assuming from high amps at low volts...
So am I a sinner if I pull the old power supplies out and slap a multi in for this guy?
It's not like he'd have a wide range of games to choose from:
Galaga
Moon Cresta
The End
King and Balloon
pleiads
Super Breakout
Arkanoid

Also what should I get for converting two cabinets. This guy is so flaky but he's got a few things that I want, namely two more Ms Pac Cocktails, a Centipede Cocktail, and an upright pac.... none of them working...

Any thoughts? And does anyone want these power supplies and boards if I do pull them?

I'd hate to see that game become a multi (because I want on) but you have a paying customer. Unless you have a cab to swap him, I think you are forgiven for creating a multi.

I can't comment on what to charge.

More likely the blown cap is pulling the voltage down.

Supplies only supply as much current as the board wants...

Pull off the blown caps and see if the PS comes back... (I assume the blown ones are tantalums near the rams, since that's the most common issue)

Yeah definitely a tantulum from near the rams. The power supply is measuring out at 2.5 volts on the 5 volt pins, and I don't even get a read out on the 12 volt pins. I was thinking of making a small adapter to insert a switcher and pull the original ps, then making two small Jamma to SI adapters. That way I could actually repair the boards and see if they worked. I see very little point in rebuilding the original ps's.

He was on the fence about restore vs. multi. But i was honest with him about the costs and time of going either way. I think he grabs them for free out of his dads warehouse and just wants to sell them for the most he can get.

So I haven't gotten the board to fire up for more than a few seconds so I don't have the intro screen to show me that it's part 2. But here is what I know:
1) From all I can tell it is identical to my Part 2 in Minnesota on the inside
2) It's color
3) It's Taito

However, the table top says deluxe, but is in Japanese and English, so I'm pretty sure the boards are part 2 boards....

Please correct me if I'm wrong, are there color deluxe Taitos?

Oh and I'm going to bring both back to my place, and do what I can to fix both.... He supposedly has two non-working Ms Pac cabs, a non-working Centi, an upright Pac, and an upright Bust a Move(I know someone who wants one) to trade for various work. I can come up with a list of what would be good compensation for getting the SI's working...

From what I know, the colour SI is a 2 board stack while most SI ur and SI deluxe is a B&W L shaped board. SI and SI deluxe is the american version of 1 and 2. Also, SI II came out as a B&W vs version of SI as a cocktail only. In Japan SI came out as a taito game in B&W, followed by SI Part II in colour in a Taitronics UR cab and also a swank cocktail cab like those on the link:

But SI part II is the first SI in color that I have read about. And again, it should be a two board stack similar to Galaga, where all the B&W SIs had the L boardsets which should include the deluxe SI. A pic would be nice to help fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle.

I will post pics when I get the machines here... It's definitely a 3 stack, very similar to the boards in Part 2, and while the cp's are different, that is exactly the style cabinet. The only board I can not find a parts diagram for is the top board or sound board...we shall see. I will update the thread as this gets moving. I have to clear two Ms. Pac Cocktails and a Centi upright out so I can bring these two SI's in.

I will pay the shipping, send prepaid shipping labels for return and pay someone 100 if they will fix these two boards and power supplies, I want to keep them whole. I will keep them whole if someone will do this. We all know they will make more money as multi's, but I can probably get this guy to keep them dedicated if I can fix or get the boards fixed..... So here's the chance for a KLOV member to save two space invaders... I can even see if there are any PCB's he's getting rid of to throw in to sweeten the deal, nothing great, and don't count on them, but I can probably get something fun.

Been writing him for a week... and no answer. Part of the problem is that these cabs aren't going to be worth much if they are up and running with original SI, so I'm hoping someone on here just wants to see two more cabs preserved instead of hacked, if I can't get them going.... This offer is out of my pocket
