I think my worst favorite thing to clean when cleaning up an Arcade is old dried up gum, that someone stuck on the machine back it the 80's. It seems pretty gross even though its 30 years old. There was 5 pieces on the machine I just picked up!! Whats your worst favorite arcade thing to clean??

I don't like bugs, so dead spiders, eggs, larvae shells, etc etc is nasty to me. Luckily I have a nice shop vac to clean all of it up. :) Mouse/Rat crap and nest remnants aren't fun either.

Mold. :(

Difficult to remove. Always worried it may comeback.

I usually pick a hot summer day and pressure wash the cab with Tilex mold and mildow applied. MDF seems to assorb quickly, but plywood and particle board seem to be fine if you take an old towel and dry it off in the hot sun fast.

My first thought was that surprise "toy" someone found in a game... Lordy.

I assume you mean an arcade GAME not an actual arcade. I can think of lots of bad stuff about cleaning an arcade :)

Used rubbers and mouse corpses.

Have not found used rubbers yet, that might take the cake. mouse poop is bad too. Was at a buddys last week looking at a machine he picked up. mouse poop from top to bottom even behind the marquee:001_ssuprised:

I used to think gum was the worst. Most of the rest (dust, moust drppings, etc.) will go up the vacuum. Petrified gum is nasty, but so far the worst just appeared with the free Ms P; petrified Slurpy. All down the front of the cabinet. I originally thought the paint was blistering and then I remembered that this game came from a 7-11. Cherry Slurpy. At least I think it was cherry, that was always the red one. And it is petrified. I have tried Windex, Lysol kitchen cleaner, hot water, Goof Off, and acetone. This stuff should be painted on the Space Shuttle tiles, it is not budging. I think I may have to just sand it off and put a new vinyl front piece on.

20 year old Slurpy, yuck.

Try a handheld steamer.

I hate mouse corpses. I found one that met death by electrocution when it crawled under the monitor chassis and bridged the pins on the main filter cap of a Matsushita monitor in a Pole Position upright.

The only good thing about that mouse was that it was in there long enough to have dessicated.

Finding a pistol is not fun, an operator I did business did says he would find them all the time when he would pick up his machines.

I had a mouse nest complete with an actual decomposing mouse corpse behind the marquee in my Punch-Out machine when I first got it.

The gross stuff doesn't bother me so much but for some reason I HATE taking off the residue from those damn auction stickers!

Especially the really old ones where someone else has already picked away at part of it.

Those suck as do the super old Op service stickers that are foil with some kind of brown paper and glue backing. They're horrible to get off, even with a full arsenal of Goof Off, Naptha and Goo Gone.

RE: the Slurpee removal- a steam cleaner if you've got one, or hot soapy water with a nylon bristle brush will take it off since it's sugar based. The petroleum solvents don't work as well on hardened sugar as hot water and a little soap.

Ask VectorInvadr what the worst thing is...

That is what I've been using ever since I figured out what it was. It is still very slow going. It has had at least 6 years to bake on in a Texas garage. I think the army should investigate this stuff as armor plating for humvees.
