So I go pick up a couple of games tonight a DKjr and a Ghosts N' Goblins. I get there the guy is really nice, the games are in expected condition - the Ghosts N' Goblins cabinet is pretty much shot at the bottom. I'm very happy with the actual games and the seller was a top notch guy.

So these games are in NE Indiana, and I traveled about 50 miles from NW Ohio - it's cold, cloudie. So the seller was helping me load the games and I'm like - maybe I should cover the games - I didn't.

Games are positioned with the Nintendo cab sideways up against the cab of the truck and Gn'G on it's back.

So I get like 40 miles back and stop to get a beverage - I look up and see the DKjr Monitor bezel literally blew out of the cabinet at some point during the drive. It was probably the nicest part on the game and I can't even describe how pissed off and disappointed I was/am at myself.

So I'm like fxxx that, I'm backtracking until I find that thing! So I drive back about 40 miles, until about 2 miles outside of the town where I picked the game up and realized it's gone. I remember a truck passing opposite lane hauling ass and hearing a smack wacking noise like halfway through my trip, so I look in that general area and it's not there.

I say forget about it - turn the truck around drive about 10 miles and THEN it starts raining. I drive past a stop sign and careen into a driveway and just start frantically covering these games with plastic. Thankfully they only caught a couple sprinkles, I ripped my sweater off and wiped them down, then covered them with plastic and wrapped rope around them until I had no more.

I basically lost my mind tonight - my stupidity is going to cost me whatever a DKjr monitor bezel costs and could have ruined the games. I'm so tired of having 3/4 of a game - I'm going to buy the nicest freaking bezel I can.

Screw the midwest in late fall/winter and I'll never leave a game uncovered during transit again, no matter how short the drive.

dang.. sucks... let me tell you story what happened to my worst pick up on the way back from fresno to sweet home sweet sacramento!!!!.

I had to rush to fresno (nearly 200 miles per way) because there were a nice popeye dedicated cab selling for $300. ( i know it s common price ) but I just want a road trip snagging a popeye. On the way i noticed there were another DK 3 cab selling for 100 non working converted in dkjr cab. I had to snag that to make my trip worth it. Good thing I snagged both and after picking up nice popeye and putting in back of truck on the cab. Drove on the way for another 12 miles to pick up DK 3 cab and finding that cab body side real wears and has damages around it but it s complete. All of suddenly it starts having a sprinkle of raining. Im like oh fuck. has to rush and putting tarp over and try my best to rope it up til I had no more .. DK 3 on the trailer. I do not have any more tarps. I focused on Popeye becasue i paid more on it and it s complete working.

I decide to rush myself and drove to escape the weather. about 45 miles out of fresno on the way to sacramento. I checked the up sky and the sky s all clear. I pulled over to grab some drink. Checked and both cab are full dry. Thank God because there were some shower very brief and stopped.... anyway..

to the point that made my trip worst ever were... on the way home in middle of no where. One van came by and flashes light and point to back of my truck and screaming. I was like what the fuck and decided to pull over. it was dark night time around 9 pm.. I am at the gutter of freeway. Semi trucks kept passing by and FUCK SEMI! lol.. anyway I finally got out of truck and checked trailer and ensure everythign s allright and found the back up chains came loose (causing sparks when driving). I fixed that then rush back inside then start driving again... about 3 miles later on (MIDDLE OF NO WHERE WITH NO LIGHTS) I decided to check my texts via wife talking on phone. O FUCK where s my ph0one.. it was on my lap!!!!!.. I looked at the back mirror.. There is black pitch.. I just lost IPHONE4 and I made my trip cost even more. Decide to buy another iphone4 off craigs list for $450 bucks. Now I consider POPEYE and DK 3 cab real expesive i ever bought for!!!!!!!!!

I learned something.

HOBBY are the most expensive things to spend but we still enjoy em!!!!

Man,I hate to hear that happen to you Mike.I ALWAYS transport games on their backs.I don't care what the risks are for doing so,because they are better than flinging parts of your game or potentially your entire game onto the road.

Every game I have ever hauled upright (3) has nearly met a pavement related demise. The last incident being the DK and DK Jr I was hauling home. The only thing I lost off either game was the cardboard monitor shroud from DK,but it was pretty trashed anyway. Both cabs nearly fell out of the truck, and I was going straight on the highway.

So for the best chance of it not getting tossed out of my vehicle and for my own piece of mind I lay the bastards down. And I don't bring any cover for the games unless there's a good chance for rain in the areas I am travelling to go get it.

I would transport them on their backs but my truck is a step-side so I can't fit 2 in it laying down. I use 4 good ratchet straps - I can gran turismo that truck with games in it. Well that's a jinx statement, your words are wise, now I will have a game flip out of my truck next trip. lol

When I got my MK2 and my playchoice, they were both vertical. It was like a wall of cabinet in the back, and the wind was beating the shit out of them. My truck was swaying like crazy. LOL You would be surprised how many head turns + thumbs up you get while lugging an MK2.

I'm still fuming about losing that monitor bezel - that crap's expensive.

wmacmonangle - You're giving me nightmares with that story - did you attempt to recover the iPhone? Did it get smashed? I'm sorry you had to go through that, it definitely softens my pick-up disaster.

If I would have just said F-it and drove home without going back to look for the bezel I would have saved gas and avoided the rain. lol

I'll keep on the lookout for a cheap DK Jr bezel.Ironically the thing I hate about my brother's truck is the exact thing that probably saved them from being tossed....the wheel wells. After my near miss I put those suckers on their backs even with those wheel wells in the way.It looks ultra ghetto, but it works.I had a lot more piece of mind and it kept the head turning and butt cheek clenching to a minimum.:p

That's fine until you have to move more than 2 games at a time. Strap them in and they won't fall over while you're driving.

If you want a really nice bezel like you said, www.ArcadeShop.com has really nice reproductions. It'll look brand new.

With the game on it's back the bezel can still fly out, the wind will pull plexi bezels right out of cabinets. If you pick up a game with a plexi bezel you need to remove it or wrap the top of the game with plastic wrap or something.

this is why i use a minivan yes i can only fit one game but i have a better mind set that nothing wont happen to the game im getting

I was just thinking this, I'm glad I use a minivan as well. Of course that means I have to make more trips if there's more than one to get....

I kid, I kid. That stinks that this happened. Hope you can get a resolution, and enjoy the games you got.

I mean that's pretty good, but hell I had 6 pinball machines on my truck LAST NIGHT with the tailgate up. I could have gotten at least 4 more.

Hey John, I'm in NW Ohio over by Toledo. You're south of CLE aren't you? I would pay you good to ship it!! :) That's awesome. Thank you, Thank you!!

JJ - I did lose it, then the seller didn't want to ship the parts to the winning bidder, winning bidder is a member here, contacted me and said I could have it if I wanted, worked a deal with the seller. I posted how stoked I was in the i hate losing thread. LOL It's been a week of me being a crybaby about stuff.

Oh update: both games were bought non-working, the dkjr board has issues, I have a DKjr. board I put in there. The Ghosts N' Goblins had a bad monitor. At some point a mouse had gotten in there - I just swapped the monitors. It works fine.
