Question inspired by this thread: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=182679

I will agree with the thread, Tempest sucks, especially for a 19" monitor. All driving games SUCK, especially OffRoad Thunder, the monitor barely fits vertically, and there are no hand-holds on the side. I severely dislike removing monitors from Pinball 2000 (just not enough room to work). I also dislike working with any monitor above 25", so heavy and/or awkward.

What is the worst cabinet to remove the monitor from, in your opinion?

My berzerk monitor was a real PIA the ass to get out. The monitor is
bolted to a wooden frame which is held in place by blocks and side bolts.

The frame doesnt come out very easily. I had to carefully unbolt the monitor
while supporting it at the same time lest it fall into the bottom of the cabinet.

I didn't think Tempest was that difficult...Star War (standup) was more of a PITA.

Daytona sitdowns definitely suck!

GORF sucks. Either you have a spotter, or you lay the game down on its side first. There are no rails or shelf, just three metal brackets that attach it to the sides of the machine.

Super Hang-on.

Also obvious choice would be the big bastards in Silent Scope, simply because of the crazy wieght.

I 2nd that. It's a nightmare to install the Gorf monitor alone, but I did it somehow. I think I had to lift it in and hook it in the front, then suspend the back until I got it bolted in.

I'll second Berzerk.

The gun games that reflect the image off a mirror like Time Crisis are the worst. The 27 inch monitor is mounted face up so you have to bear hug the tube to pick it up while hoping you don't get shocked. You only have a few inches between the neck board and the stuff at the bottom cabinet. Some only have the monitor mounts at the four corners and nothing in between the mounts. The height of the game makes you choose between kneeling or crouching over to attempt it. And there isn't any room that anyone can help you out.

I swapped the tube in my Hard Drivin' upright by myself. Wasn't very fun.

You're forgetting about newer machines. Arcade plasmas and LCDs over 40" are a whole new level of PITA because they're so fragile and don't have the protective casing of consumer TVs. I've looked at how the monitor is mounted in our Aliens Extermination deluxe -- if that panel gets cracked, I don't care what bossman says, we're tossing the whole machine.

I agree on this one! T2 is not fun to remove the monitor let alone moving the entire cab itself.

oh God no....I just bought a Berzerk and was planninh on pulling the monitor to correct an issue :(

EDOT is the worst like previously stated its a juggling act. While Hard Driven sucks bad to as it has to come in from the top and faces down.Seawolf 2 looks pretty hard also but have never done it.

The worst I encounted was spy hunter. And it wasn't removing the monitor, it was putting it back in by myself. That was a bitch.

I haven't had the pleasure to work on the other games mentioned by other people in this thread.
