WORN OUT!!! My latest changes to the arcade just in time for New Year's...

Every New Year's Eve, we have an arcade party. Each year between Christmas and New Year's, I work on projects (or finish projects, as the case may be), and get them set up in the game room for something "new" for everyone to try out. Last year, I moved in a custom Radiant Silvergun arcade cabinet, complete with original artwork. The year before that, I moved in a custom pedestal assembly with a 42" plasma that run PS3, PS2, Xbox and Xbox 360 through the arcade controls in the pedestal. You can find a video of it on YouTube under the same user name as on here.

So, for this New Year's, I have made the following changes/additions:

1. Installed a Multi-Jamma setup into the Radiant Silvergun cabinet to add the Cave CPS-2 shooter "Progear No Arashi" and (as a surprise for my son) Strider 2. This was a REAL challenge, as both Radiant and Progear are using the same Qsound amplifier in the cabinet, but the Strider 2 has it's own dedicated amplified stereo outputs directly from the board. I had to install separate speakers on the top of the machine, reflecting the sound off the ceiling and around you. The other boards are using the same amp and are switched out as needed.

2. Got my Neo Geo 4-slot refurbishment completely finished and moved in. At the moment, it has a 150-in-1 sitting in the first slot. My extra 1-slot board came up with a RAM error and my 6 slot is buggy. SO... The 4-slot is in for now. I didn't have enough time to get the sound capacitors replaced, so all audio is "enjoyed" by the players via the functioning headphone jacks, which are pretty neat. Hope to get it fixed proper just as soon as I can...

3. Finally, Finally, FINALLY! Finished the complete refurbishment of my Outrun 2 twin that has been upgraded to the Special Stages version. This has been a LONG time coming. What a pain in the rear, and what a TON of work. But it looks SO NiCE!!! Given the fact that you can not buy any replacement artwork from Sega, I have acquired extras from other machines and have tweaked and used the best parts I could get my hands on. It looks almost like a new game. Unfortunately, it was SUCH A PAIN to get it moved in. Had to pull the coin boxes, wiring interconnects, side panels, marquee and even had to pry the wood blocks from the side of the cabinet that you use to fasten the side art covers to the side of the cabinet. It was the only way I could squeeze it through my 31" opening, once the door was pulled from the hinges.

I will shoot some photos and post them tomorrow. Too tired to do it tonight. Hope everyone has a great new year!
