I always forget that this object exist during play, and recently wanted to utilize it more, but I cant for the life of me get it to work. Doing the switch test I can verify the button works, and the magnet tests fine as well in the solenoid tests. However, during play, I am never able to get it to trigger. Is there some sort of eddy sensor on this thing, or other action that must occur first before the magna-save will work?

It has to be lit to work...and even then it's in a dumb spot, I have used it to save myself lots of times..if you hit a slow shot up the left ramp alot of times it will come SDTM, so that's one time I use it...

Left Inlane
Has a rollover which lights the Light Magna-Save target.

Light Magna Save target
When lit, hitting this target lights the Magna-Save. This target is lit by rolling through the left inlane.

If the ball is moving to fast alot of times it won't have enough power to stop it from going SDTM. I use it when the ball is slow moving most times, otherwise it's just wasted..can be good in multiball to get a ball under control as well..

Just to clarify, the magna save always works for you, providing the light is lit regardless of ball location right? The issue I am having is the light is lit, and nothing happens when I hit the button. I have tested the button switch in the test menu and it works fine, and I have verified that the magnet is working through the solenoid tests. So I cant see a logical reason why the magnet doesnt fire when I hit the magna save button.

Yep it should always work regardless of where the ball is...

So in test mode you can actually make the magnet hold the ball?

Sounds like somehow your magnasave button is not sending the signal to the magnet coil.

They test fine individually, but when you actually use it in game the signal is not going to the magnasave coil...

Check the solenoid wiring diagram in the manual page 3-5 i think..

Sol33 is the magna goalie..get your DMM out and start fishing around with the associated wires/connectors, maybe there is a break or loose wire, or diode missing or or or haha

I'm not the most tech savvy guy out there, but I do manage to keep my machines up and running. I learn something new everytime I open my pins :)

Let us know if you manage to figure it out...

Well the issue is fixed, though I cant be sure as to why. I checked the routing of the cables, checked all connections, and verified the connections to the driver board were all intact with no cracked solder joints etc. The only thing I changed was to increase the distance in the switch for the flipper button, since it seemed unusually small. Everything is working now, so who knows what the problem was. I expect it will act up again eventually.
