I sold my Road Show and picked up two pins this month, Whitewater and World Cup Soccer.

The missus is playing a lot of the WH20, but surprisingly, I cannot get enough of the WCS. I just cannot walk away from the darn thing - the ramps, the audio, working up the city ladder, final draw multi-ball. And I know NOTHING about soccer, never watch it, never have, probably never will.

I think this is a really underrated/underappreciated game. Mrs. Cartouche likes it a lot too but says, "all that teal puts me off."

Any other WCS lovers out there?

Yep its an awesome game, probably Popadiuk's best effort. He made some prettier games but this one definitely has the best software.

That is a game that I've contemplated on trading off but it's in such beautiful shape and my gut feeling says I won't find one as nice or nicer. Besides I think I'd end up eventually missing it so when in doubt don't! It truly is a sleeper and one of the best bang for the buck pins out there. The artwork isn't exactly anything to write home about but it's certainly acceptable especially when you compare it to a Sterns artwork heh.

Really my only complaint about this otherwise excellent machine is the lack of time the ball gets in the pops. I hate games (Avatar) where the ball hangs in the pops forever but this game is so VERY hit and miss (mostly miss). When it's a miss the ball tends to stall a bit sitting on top of the soccer ball (sometimes needing a nudge to break loose) or when the ball is spinning it takes a little longer than I care for the ball to be returned. Soccer ball is clean and fairly new and I have a pitch of 7.5.

As simple as the rule set is, it's one that truly pleases the masses and I would most certainly recommend it to anyone.

Fun fun fun. There is a place down the street from me that has this and a Funhouse amongst 3 or 4 Sterns. WCS gets my quarters. One of the best for sure.

I dunno. I think all of Popaduik's games (except maybe the pin2k one) are 'best' games for different reasons. I own a CV and really want a WCS, TOTAN, and TOM someday! Each one is on my all-time top-10 list. But they are different, yet each has that irresistible attraction and fun factor for me.

WW and WCS are two of the greatest game ever..

WCS is great, only the artwork is less otherwise it'd be the most favorite game for everyone.. I just love the flow, rules, playfield layout, ..

I had a WCS that was basically HUO. It sat in a hair salon for its entire life and I am guessing it didnt get played much by the old ladys getting their hair permed. THE THING WAS BEAUTIFUL !! I loved that game, I traded it for a demo man (mistake) and still miss it. Paid 600$ for mine, what a great deal.

I just sold my WCS94 this past weekend, needed the space to replace it with another pin I have been wanting for a while. It was a favorite amongst my guests till the new kid (Flintstones) showed up but still got more play time cause everyone hated DM especially after playing WCS94 and enjoy longer ball times where as DM can be a quick drainer <10 secs for some lol

I really enjoyed WCS94 and it was my 2nd pin but sadly if it wasn't for the space issue I would have kept it and just added my 4th pin despite telling my wife that was it after I bought WCS94 lasy year. It's such a sick addiction I tell you.

I played it last night @ a local bar. I am warming up to it, actually got one of the high scores & entered my initals.
This local dump of a bar has two pretty good pins - Data East Star trek & World cup soccer. Really rare in our area.

it's a fun game !

bought mine for a song
it needs A LOT of TLC
and
restoration
but
it boots and plays supposedly

right now it's in the storage unit collecting dust till i can get to it

WCS had been at the top of my want list for at least 10 years. I traded a pretty beat up TAF for mine and am SO HAPPY I did. Was well worth the wait. The WCS I got is in great shape. Its also my 9 year old daughters favorite. She made me set it up in her play room and not the "game room" downstairs because its now..."her game" LOL.

Funny story....about 8 years ago I picked up a Striker stuff doll off ebay because I knew someday I would have one. He now has a place to sit... ;-)

I want your Striker!!! I just went on Ebay to see how much they are going for and the cheapest I could find is like $75.00.

I never understood all the love WCS, I had a Rocky & Bullwinkle, Gilligans Island, Hurricane and WCS. Sold WCS because it never got any love from anyone who came over.

I'll take a guess:
Because WCS is nothing but GOOOAAALLLL and when the soccer ball stops spinning it loses a lot of it's luster. And hearing the game continuously telling a bad player (they can't seem to get the ball under control" is insulting.

This is a game that really requires people to understand there's more to it than just shooting the goal. They don't understand they need so many goals to light the TV award, or how to fly to another city - the list goes on and on.
I've found that AFTER I educated people how to advance then it received a hell of a lot more attention.
And that TV award shot can be a real mother to hit.

I really liked it when I had it, and I think I might end up with one again. Some people might not like the theme or artwork, and if that's a turnoff then those people will never love the game. The theme and art is pretty neutral to me. The game play was great!! The ramp shots were very nice, and the software was great. Family friendly, too. Everyone who played it seemed to reallye njoy it.

I played one recently on route, but it had a few minor issues and a LOT of GI was out, and I couldn't STAND playing it. Totally killed the fun.
