Man, I am lucky to have friends with the best jobs. My buddy Dave is helping us out with vinyl store signage. Stage one is to put up Space Invaders and game brands. Stage two is to do Donkey Kong gurters with words BUY * SELL * ARCADE * AVAILABLE FOR PARTY RENTAL near the base of the windows, then a white overlay on the current window logo to make it pop. I'm going to get rope lights for the big windows and backlight a light background on the space invaders window spots.

I think with the new changes it'll really POP!

Complete ripoff of cwales's store. Couldn't you come up with something original?

Really, no shit! That right there is one reason you will fail... no creativity. If you need everything spelled out for you, you are doomed.

Casey didn't have someone show him how to do any of the shit he does. He gets an idea and comes up with a plan and he tries it. What may work for him, may not work for you since your situations are different.

Looks like Sage has an awning that will reduce the top signage (space invaders) next to nihl..

Why would it matter if he imitated the basic signage formula offered as an example. It isn't like those two places are anywhere near each other, or compete with each other in any way.

I think the signage is looking great, and going with the basic formula that was working good for someone else is a good idea.

Yeah, seriously. Who cares if it looks the same? As long as cwales is OK with it, then quit the nit picking and give the guy a little credit for making some changes. Keep up the good work, Sage. Some of us  are rooting for you.

Wow, the signage is much improved....good luck to you....and who really cares if its similar to another arcade.....

Lets be supportive of the few guys out there trying to make a living doing a job that really doesn't not exist anymore in this day and age...running an arcade is like being a telephone operator...not much demand for your services anymore....

I'd like to hear from cwales... I can't imagine he shared what his store front looked like so it could be copied...

And some people take pride in what they do and how they use their imagination and don't care for others to take the easy way out and copy them.

I honestly can't believe the support this guy gets here... seems like all he does is ask, ask, ask and then doesn't like what he hears, hears, hears.

Whatever... maybe I'm just grumpy because I'm not feeling well and stuck home sick today...

Absolutely.

I couldn't agree more. cwales offered something that looked great, and Sage took it and ran with it. They are STATES away from each other, so there's absolutely NO competition there. In fact, they'll only help each other.

Really! Some of you are bashing him for not taking advice, and then when he does take some advice and do something, you critique it? You should be helping him, not slamming him. Say something nice and/or constructive, or keep your mouth shut. Start your own 'bashing Rusty Quarters' thread.

Yeah, he needs positive words right now. Criticism is OK, as long as it's constructive.

I agree there. I believe I have a pretty cool basement arcade setup. People are always asking me how I did certain things, where I got certain signs, chairs, etc. If someone does a setup similar to mine, all the power to them, I would think that is pretty cool.

At this point it's what ever works! Hell make it look like a wal-mart,what ever makes folks walk in the door to drop a quarter.

At first I kinda didn't like the way Sage complained about the advice he was getting, but now he's taking the advice that works for him, doing actual changes and people are bashing him for it?

Last time I checked, nobody had exclusive display rights on space invader decals. If he put them in a similar fashion on the bottom of his windows, would people still cry foul? Probably. Is that a copyrighted design? Are he and cwales in competition? In the same state? Did he take cwales store name and logo and use it? No on all counts.

Next we'll all be complaining about the number of inches he has between machines, and how that's laid out the same as someone else's establishment.

I usually love this forum, but today....

If I had a basement, I would copy every detail of yours down to the hardware you used to hang your neon on the wall.
