When you do payments as gift nowadays, paypal asks if you want yourself or the seller to pay for the fees. Just an FYI as someone is paying the fees.

Plus, if you send something as a gift, the buyer can't make a claim against you incase something happens.

since when did this happen? i just paypaled some money two weeks ago and it didnt ask me that, and neither me or the person i was gifting paid a fee

and everyone here already knows you cant open a claim if you gift, thats why we have a feedback system here

Maybe it was an international transaction, currency conversion charges apply to those. Apparently there's also a $3000/year limit on gift collections.
 
Been like that for months. I only use my bank account and it makes me choose who wants to pay the fee.

I doubt it, I just sent 3 gifts this week and i nor did the other party pay a fee, they do this if you have abused the gift feature or sending oodles of money left and right
