I went back to my little home town over the weekend for my Wife's 15 year Class Reunion. We stopped off at a little bar that used to be called Earl's. It was run by an 89 year old man who retired and sold it 2 years ago (he turns 91 next week). It's now owned by some young dude, who fixed it up and tried to 'modernize' it a bit. He removed the old fixed booths, took out the 45 Juke and replaced it with a Touchtunes, etc. I think he kinda took the charm away from the place with his 'improvements', but whatever. Dude actually had a nice, working Rollergames sitting next to the ATM and a few feet from the Touchtunes. He saw me taking pics and asked me if I was a pinball wizard. I said no. He challenged me to beat his high score. I declined. Anyhoo, I thought it was pretty cool to see a working pinball in such a tiny bar in my home town.

Wow, 15 year reunion? So she is quite a bit younger than you are.

You declined the challenge? BOO! What the matter? You a chicken McFly?

Edit:
Was that darts metal tip kind? Right next to the Pin?!? That is some scary pin to play!

See.. That's where you made your mistake man.. Should have challenged him! As it would have broke the ice and he would have let you in on his grandfathers massive warehouse of pins and vids right down the street.. :)

As not many locations have a rollergames.. So I'd bet his sitting on some nice ones.. Hehe.

Next time take the challenge, and let him win.

I scored a warehouse of almost 100 classics by chatting up a bar owner.. He owned a few warehouses he rented out for storage.. An Op packed away his entire arcade in 1983 when it went bankrupt.. He paid for a few months then nothing, so the owner locked it up and forgot about it.. He wanted to sell the building and needed to clean it out.. I had 1 day to empty all the games I could move.. Which i did.. Some games had less than 500 plays on the meter, and most looked new.. 90% fired right up and none had battery acid damage!!

So yeah, talk to bar owners.

That's a Valley soft tip board.

Nice pics Phet, just a little dirty and in WAY better shape than the one in my garage, that's for sure.

That damn music still haunts me, I'm almost cringing when I have to turn it on now.

I'd have taken him up on his high score challenge.

My 4th place score on my Rollergames is about 21 million...

Of course, the prize, if I beat it, would've had to have been free cocktails... :)

My high is just over 19 million. I'm getting better, just got the diverter spring replaced on the upper ramp last night so it's a lot easier to get multiball going now.

Have you managed to get your ramp assembly out without taking the playfield out of the cab? I need to work on mine.

I just can't seem to reach those screws in the back, even when I take the plastic and all the flasher domes off.

I was able to prop up the front of the playfield and replace the springs without taking it out, thankfully!
