"working DK jr" purchase.. missing a rom :)

ha.. nice..

maybe a year ago.. I buy a 'working' dk jr at auction... on line...

it never did work.. well, tonight I decided enough is enough.. went out to the dark 10 degree garage and pulled the board...

Instantly see the missing 5A rom... 'working' yeah right :)

oh well.. will pick one up... and go from there... could be worse.. and maybe it will be once I get the rom purchased and see what happens from there..

:)

whats in 5A on the CPU board ?

doh ! in my laughing at myself.. I didn't notice the socket is just a bit smaller than the 5B chip next to it...

what is that then? I can check a schematic.. sure I have one for this game somewhere...

don't forget the deep Jamaican laugh at the end...

looking for schematics now...

Is it this EPROM ?

NTE2732A is a 32,768–bits ultraviolet erasable and electrically programmable read–only
memory (EPROM

Nothing at all goes in 5A. It's just an empty socket. (I've got a working DK Jr board laying right beside me as luck would have it!)

There is an oddball ROM version that uses that location....You don't see it too ofter.

Hmmm... mame lists them as the easy roms.

Perhaps I'll disassemble them and poke around and see what all's different...

I remember "Mario's hideout" came up at the ....4th (give or take) screen. What is it on the "regular" ROMs???...10th, 12th screen?

But, rearranging the screen sequencing doesn't explain an extra ROM chip.
