Hiya,

Im looking to restore some Sega/Gremlin cabinets. Specifically Super Zaxxon/Zaxxon cabinets. Im not a fan of the woodgrains but If I was going to do a restore Id like to do the correct pattern and look.

I typically use Wilsonart brand laminates.

Anyone have an experience or a resource for the correct.

I saw some woodgrain laminates down at the local cheapo hardware store

they had about 20 different ones with all different types of woodgrain patterns on them
as I was leaving I took one last quick look at them and tried to figure out which would be the best for the cabinet I wanted to apply them to.

that was a couple months ago

still haven't bought any but I was thinking that really any of them would do
none of them are "correct"
some I liked way more than others
I don't think it really matters when you come right down to it.
the cabinet I want to "patch" has different types of patterns of patches on it. not sure if that's from the factory or if someone later tried to patch the bad spots.
I think any of them would do

WHEN I go back there here pretty soon, I'm going to buy something I think is close and be done with it. people understand that these things are 40 years old and so what if the patches don't match. if you're going to redo the whole outside, I don't think anyone would know the difference except you.

that's how I look at it. its kind of like paint colors. I don't think one can ever EXACTLY match a paint color in todays paint. close, close, close, yes but not EXACT

just do it
good luck

Check out my Congo Bongo build thread. I use Wilsonart Nepal Teak. I'd say its a 90% exact match for Sega woodgrain.
