I was just wondering what the preferred laminate would be for those who have cocktail cabinets.

I already know the purist here would say woodgrain and buyers "outside of the hobby" would probably say black, but I'm looking for the opinions from those in the middle who have games that they do not intend to sell, and don't put a premium on restoring cabs to their original state.

Thanks.

i like wood grain. im more of the "period correct" kind of person myself

if they wanted something all modern then i dont see whay they should even be thinking about buying sumthing made famous 30 years ago and trying to "modernize" it

just go buy a xbox or something...

I would also say stay with the period correct woodgrain. One thing of note though is that my Centipede cab is all original and it's about 70% black matte. Only the very top is woodgrain.

It depends on your setup and the surrounding environment.

If you've got a classic retro thing happening, of course wood grain. But if its the only retro looking thing in the room- then I'd say the black laminate might help keep the it from looking out-of-place in the surrounding enviro, NeoRetro- so to speak.

black isnt too unforgivable but ive just been checking out some of the things people have been doing with diffrent mame cabs and thing like that and its just hedious. its like the automotive equlivent of those guys with '62 cadillics painted metallic red with 25'' chrome rims

just know where to draw the line

if you guys wanted to get some of that retro 70's looking wood wrap for a cab what do you think would be a good ooption?
