What kinda of glue to use to assemble an Atari cabinet? I tried some liquid nail for wood --no way was it as good as the clear stuff that was originally there

Looks similar to glue I've seen in furniture. What is the good glue?

They used a combination of glue and staples. For woodworking glue, can't go wrong with Titebond 2 or 3. Titebond 3 is waterproof and has a slower setting time. Liquid Nails is not really 'glue' and shouldn't be used for woodworking.

I use this:

This glue works well... pretty much bonds everything:
Titebond MP300 Poly Reactive Hot Melt Adhesive

Straight up wood bonding this is probably the easiest to work with:
Titebond WW60 Glue

I like the fact that I can put the stuff together quickly... and it really bonds exceptionally well. I've always used gorilla glue (poly)... but that stuff expands quite a bit and you have to be really careful with it, otherwise you end up with the stuff "foaming at the mouth" so to speak ;) Gorilla holds really well but you still have anchor/clamp and wait a decent amount of time with it... With the titlebond, I can glue and tack staple and I'm done. With the 30 second glue... you don't even need to staple or clamp.

Downside is the adhesive is pricey.

Since we're concerned with appearance and fine detail, I'd lump the game restoration with "fine woodworking". I agree, Gorilla Glue is strong, but not optimal for this work. Actually, I think it's horrible for this work. I reglued a bottom panel on a Bally pinball cabinet and got the foaming out mess.. Just use Titebond or Elmer's carpenter (yellow) glue. Clamp as needed, or hold the piece while the glue is drying by shooting some finish nails, staples, or pin nails.
