Won a Star Wars upright on eBay....fair buy?

Ugh well that was disgusting but I shot the corpse with some bleach and then removed it. Looks like it had died laying between the 4 bolts for one of the cabinet wheels. I even pulled out a few other parts like what I think were his claws. Looking the cab over more I haven't come across any mouse poop yet....mostly I've just seen pieces of the black foam that went behind the Ampliphone HV and deflection boards. Also a good sign is still no horrendous smells. I'll see what I find when I look at the boards again and hopefully no sign of piss corrosion. *crosses fingers*

I took the pcb set out to have a closer look at it. Everything seems fine and I can't see any spot that definitely got hit from what looks to be mouse piss on the top of the board cage. I went ahead and washed the cage down with some bleach so it's not nearly as nasty now either and I figured out the one wire I have that was frayed goes to the board cage as a ground. It looks like it just ripped out of the insulation at some point and all other wires look okay. Once this cage dries out I think I'm finally ready to power this thing on and see what it's doing or not doing.

Make sure to meter the output on the AR board before hooking up the PCB! Don't wanna fry your SW board.

For sure. :) R29 on the ARII has already been replaced so I'm very cautious. I already have a rebuild kit coming from Bob just because it probably could use it anyway.

The power cord going into the brick looked suspicious in one of your pics, so you should interrogate it as well. I have replaced quite of few of my power cords due to the normal wear and tear, not to mention ops pulling the grounding pins off. Computer power cords work great and can usually be found in sufficient lengths. I reuse the plastic connector (for Ataris) if they are in good condition with new metal pins on the new cable. Gotta always start with clean power. :)

Nice score. I did not see it, but probably would have tried to snag it for that just to have backup parts for mine, and to probably make a chair with the cab. Just kidding, I think it looks like a solid score up here. These have not been around much up here and when they have they went for more, or at least the ones I have come across.

I guess Star Wars must be more rare than I thought. Only once did I pay that kind of money for a game (other than pinball) and it was working. But, maybe its just one of those games.

If you could find me a Star Wars for $425 anywhere in this area I be all over it.

Finally had a chance to work on the cabinet from the electronics standpoint. The first thing I did was replace the power cord and make sure I was ready to power up and check the supply with nothing else hooked up. After testing the power supply I tried powering up the board without the monitor. All I got was a loud hum and the +5 under load wouldn't come up beyond 4.6. I rebuilt the ARII and pretty much got the same result. Next I replaced the power input pins on the edge connector for the main board as they were flat and tarnished. That still didn't get me anywhere other than the board wouldn't freak out when I wiggled the edge connectors. Finally I replaced the big blue and got a stable +5 but still only a thumping noise. I decided to see if the board was doing anything and hooked up the monitor. Here's what I was greeted with...

The game seems to play fine but I have zero sound other than the thud noise from the speaker. I did pull and re-seat all socketed chips on the sound board with no luck. I'm happy the monitor is working and the main pcb is working. :) I still need to do a bit more cleaning on the inside as well. Overall I feel much better knowing two major parts are largely working and hopefully the sound problem won't be too tough to check. I may start with verifying the eproms but I have a feeling the problem will be elsewhere.

Any updates here?
I actually did end up getting the sound working a few days ago. It was caused by a bad ram on the sound pcb and I scrounged one from a non-working Mappy board. Of course I should have known it was too good to last....the 6100 shit the bed yesterday and just messing with it for a few minutes, I found at least Q103 is bad, but the thing really deserves a full rebuild anyway. You gotta figure the monitor hasn't been used in 13 years since the seller said he got the machine and who knows how long it sat prior to that. This is actually a convenient time for this thread to be updated with a quick question. Is there supposed to be a piece of wood on the inside of the cab that covers the vent opening above the back door? The back door doesn't fit and it finally dawned on me that it's because of that piece of wood covering the vent hole. I may have to post pics if it's not making sense, but if thing thing is OEM, I'd have to guess someone put it back on after it was knocked loose or something.
