Wolfeel’s WICO Four Inchers - Reproduction Robotron size Wico joystick shafts.

TMNT, The Simpsons, X-Men, and Sunset Riders all used 4" Wico's in multiple colors including one red stick. I guess it's safe to assume that all Konami 4P cabinets used them. Earlier games of this type used leaf switch stick bases and buttons but X-Men and later games used microswitch bases and buttons.

I had a question about these (specifically the size of my balls) and here is my reply back:

"The ball tops that I had made measure 1.5 inches (38.10 mm) in diameter. I have no idea if some Robotrons had a smaller ball top, but the sticks that I used as a template were pulled off of an original Robotron control panel and have the 1.5 inches (38.10 mm) in diameter ball tops and 4" shafts."

First batch will ship out today.

The first batch went out today. I PMed everyone with their tracking number.

I included the C-clips in each package NOT attached to the shafts. Most people will find them wrapped up in a yellow sticky note, some others will find it wrapped in something else.

Thanks to those that placed orders so far.

Still have more if people are interested.

Thanks for doing these Kevin! If someone told me a couple of years ago that I would pay $50 for 2 sticks, I would have thought they were crazy. But now, I am just happy to finally have a set of these. I have been looking for a set for a long time. These turned out great!

No they don't, the sticks in these are all 3.5". I've pulled factory sticks and replaced them in more than one machine, and I've seen numerous others...not a single one is 4".

wolfeel I know you have some interest north of the border, but at $50 for two...I'm sure people are wondering on shipping. Have you sent any up here yet, so I can pass along an idea of shipping cost?

It is $50 SHIPPED to the USA. I just sent a pair up to the Great White North for $60 SHIPPED.

You sure you're measuring right? Sorry to sound like a jerk but any Konami cab with 3.5" stick will have you virtually scraping your knuckles on the control panel. You could get away with using that size and I've seen cabs that use 4"er's replaced with 3.5's, but that's not the original size. This is why 4" Wico sticks sell for high prices while 3.5" assemblies are dirt cheap.

Smash TV uses 4"ers on the 25" cab, I've never worked on a 19" Smash TV though so I'm not sure if it has a metal panel or not. Don't worry about that post. I own multiple Konami panels and an original Smash TV 25" and they're all 4". 3.5" are for metal panels which none of these games have. 3.5" sticks only allow about 1/2" clearance between the ball top and control panel on a 3/4" panel.

Like I said, I've replaced the factory sticks on more than one cab, and I've NEVER seen one with 4" sticks...ever. If you've found 4" sticks in one, they were changed already. Plenty of clearance on a wood TMNT panel for 3.5" sticks, unless you're bigfoot.

3.5" - 3/4" - 1" clearance = 1 3/4" under panel
4" - 3/4" -1" clearance = 2 1/4" under panel

It would take a VERY shallow joystick base to accommodate a stick that only clears the bottom of the panel by 1 3/4", and a Wico base isn't one of them. A 3.5" stick only clears the top of a 3/4" panel by .5". The 4" clear by 1".

Have you ever even seen the underside of a factory panel for these games? They're routed out where the base sits.

Sorry, but you're simply wrong that there are 4" sticks in these games. Maybe if you're using a recut panel you'd need 4" to get the clearance.

I don't know what the point is of arguing it, seems rather silly, but here's a shot of my TMNT control panel for posterity...and they sit 1" above. This is an original CP, as are others I've worked on recessed like this. The sticks I pulled out were 3.5", sticks that went in were as well.

Can't say I've ever seen purple 4" sticks anyway, yellow maybe...blue, I'm not sure.

P.S. Yeah she's dusty...she gets no love anymore and must hate my pins.

Sorry for the thread-jack wolfeel
