Works like a champ! Me happy! Now to change R2 to a pot.

A clean power supply is a happy power supply. My Defender is awaiting the same treatment. Whenever I happen to get around to it....

What did you use and how did clean it?

First used a portable vacuum with a brush head to get off all the loose dust / debris. Then bathed it in pure isopropyl alcohol (not the 70% kind you get in the drug store as it seems to leave residue) while gently scrubbing with a toothbrush. Afterwards re-capped it and replaced the regulators and transistors.

Wow. I was just gonna throw mine in the dishwasher haha. Good effort!

I bought a power supply off ebay too, first thing I did when I took it out of the box was go "oh, hell no" and then I decided "I'm gonna do what all those KLOV dudes say to do..." and just sprayed it with simple green and washed it with hot water in the sink. little blow dryer action, and then I installed Bob's kit for it.

and it's mint now. and I'm sorry, but mine's still prettier. ;)

When I was buying boards in bulk lots, I'd wash 'em in the front yard with dish soap and a scrub brush. Hose 'em off, let 'em dry in the sun. Doesn't hurt a thing...

Well, not if you don't post any pictures of it. ;)

Haha. Yeah, I lost all my fb pics, otherwise I'd share it. For serious though it came out very nice. I did however break the -5 led off, but I got one of those led variety packs at the shack last year.. maybe I'll get around to it.

Yeah - sure it did. I'll bet mine is even MUCH MORE NICER than yours is/was/might be......

Oh, I don't have a camera to take a picture so I can't show you .….....but believe me - mine is twice as good as new.....hahahaha

Nice job OP, by the way.

Can't believe you can hose it down in the front yard dry it off and it works! It seems like if I open the back door on the machine, something arcs, smoke comes out and a capacitor falls off the pcb.

There's nothing that it can hurt really. Everything is hermetically sealed. I think I *may* have pulled socketed chips out first....I really don't remember. The sockets would get replaced 9 times out of 10 so I wasn't too concerned about them.

Now that I think about it....I did pull at least the eproms out to preserve the labels so I knew which was which.
