Wizzes Workshop centering bellows installation question??

I ordered their centering bellows for my Food Fight, and I'm a little confused as to the install procedure.
Is the ww bellows meant to be installed WITH the metal rings from the original Atari bellows? I put it in without the ring(s) and it feels pretty sloppy.

Several months ago.

I was afraid you were going to say that.. :(

In response to your question, I thought his ad said the original Atari ring was "inside" the original part? Therefore, I don't know how you could install it with the new one. However, I haven't seen these in person so some others might need to chime in.

I know Friz has a set lying around but not sure if he's installed them yet in his BZ.

Unfortunately I can't help much. I too have a Wizzy's set of bellows, but they are sitting in a drawer waiting for the eventual day my stock ones die. I've not tried to replace them yet. If/when you DO determine what you're supposed to do, please let us all know...

Anyone here installed these before?

I installed mine without the rings. There is a little slop but not bad. I thought it said not to use the rings. I could be wrong.

I don't recall. I installed some (demogo has the game now) and the sticks felt nice and stiff afterwards. I don't recall anything about the rings because I'm not looking at a setup right now, so I can't say for sure, other than to say they felt fine when I was done...

I put them into my Battlezone and they are very stiff. You do not need the metal ring.

That being said Ram Controls is supposed to have 100% reproductions (including the metal ring). http://www.ram-controls.com/order-bz.html. Dave had some special KLOV pricing on these, but I'm too lazy to go look it up (this thread is enough like a commercial anyway). I have not tried his bellows, but if they are like everything else I've tried they are exact reproductions right down to the fit and finish.

Just got a note from Tom-

"No rings needed, toss the old stuff."

You're cracking me up with these posts.

i was not happy with mine especially after waiting about a month for them. Needless to say the next time i need some, i will be getting a proper reproduction from daviea

Drop him a PM. My search fu is particularly worthless, weak and insignificant today. I can't even find the post where he talked about them :(.
